Oh boy, no idea how I've never had African food or plantain. By some luck I decided on plantain without knowing that it was Mama's specialty. No regrets there, had it along with the Mama special sauce which was a super combination of sweet and sour. So yummy and addictive you just have to try! Highly recommended. Also got a vegetable patty which came with a nice taste of sweet potato (?) that I enjoyed. The aroma in the shop was mouth-watering, delicious smells of homecooked food, gravy and made me wish I didn't already have dinner waiting at home! What an introduction to African food! Will be back for more plantain and to properly try their other dishes next time.

I was unsure of ordering at first, but when I tasted this food my eyes lit up and I was transported to flavor town! The jollof was perfectly seasoned, the ox tail was flavorful and just tender enough, the plantain was not saturated in oil and still had bite! The PORTIONS hit the mark! It reminded me of my mother’s cooking (but a little better if I’m being honest). I’m so happy I found this place! Please keep it up, I’ll be spending my money here very happily if this continues the be the standard. Also you were quick. I’m really just in awe of all of this. So happy!

I ordered from Mama Vics and was extremely disappointed with the Jollof as it is just normal rice with tomato sauce. Not a real jollof at all. And on top of that one of the patties that we ordered was GONE OFF! There was a very strong rotting smell coming out of the patty and my partner ate some of it which can cause extremely health and safety risks. I have pictures of the inside of the patty to show how awful it was. Extremely disappointed as I was excited to finally have some African food in London. Hoping I can get compensation for this.Aside from that the chicken, plantain and chin chin were all good.

Ordered from here on deliveroo, ordered plantain and rice and asked for no sauce, but they put sauce. The oxtail is not caribbean oxtail, it was oxtail in some sort of tomato sauce. There was only two bits of oxtail and a small amount of sauce on top of what seemed to be enough rice for 4 people. The same with the plantain meal, a small amount on top and then a ridiculous amount of rice. The dumpling was not the right texture and tasted like pure oil. Not impressed at all.

Had high hopes for this place, my usual place was busy and all out of oxtail so I popped in and always wanted to try this place. Unfortunately did not exceed my expectations nor the oxtail was any good. Tasted of tomatoe puree and a bit of meat, I had a few bites and was saddened to realise this was not a hit.
