A good range of ales. Nice atmosphere. A proper pub in the heart of Hackney. Note that at present it’s card payment only, no cash.

Proper boozer with great cask and keg beer (some but not all from affiliated Howling Hops), pickled eggs, and "interesting" toilets.Update Dec 2021: previous manager did a good job of ventilating the place, new manager has a sign up saying "It's cold outside, keep door closed". Decide for yourself if this is pro or con.

Very good Hackney pub at the top of Mare Street. 6 cask beers - and 7 ciders - on tap when I visited. Unusually, the beers included two dark beers - a stout and a mild. The pub only offers bar snacks but outside food is welcome.

A pub where the bar staff know their beers and a choice that is worthy of a Mexican wave. Lovely.

A nice bar with a good selection of beers on the taps. Great place to stop by after a show at the theatre next door. I was surprised we get to take our pint glasses and sit outside, on the pavement. But hey, I’m not complaining!

One of the most proper of proper boozers that lives. Pure East London beer den with great cask, great craft, and great pickled eggs. One for the purists.
