The Vortex Downstairs in Hackney

Friendly crowd, great music, horribly uncomfortable chairs...which don't stop me from going back again and again. I love this place.

An upstairs jazz club. Good crowd and very good music. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Small, intimate, cool. Run by normal down to Earth people with an obvious passion for what they're doing and the Jazz acts they put on. Will be here again!

This jazz venue is a true gem! Everytime I'm here I am amazed at the quality of the jazz performances. And the atmosphere is very intimate, the musicians are often up for a pint and a banter with you after they finished playing.

A splendid intimate venue that has t for terrific jazz acts playing regularly. Always feel very safe with a great selection of well priced alcoholic beverages available. Thanks for the great night's you have shared and hopefully not too long before our next bee-bobing skat

Nice club in North London. A bit cramped, but the acoustics were OK. Good local vibe in the area outside with good options for casual food and drink. The drinks in Vortex were reasonably priced, but not the best. Run by volunteers, who were all passionate about the place. The main downside is the poor connections by public transport. It makes an interesting counterpoint to Ronnie Scott's, the other main Jazz venue in London.
