Kata in Haringey

This restaurant is a joke. Food was poor quality, avocado looked about a week old and the portion sizes were tiny. Poor quality (even Tesco sushi is better) and hugely overpriced considering the tiny boxes - would suggest you actively avoid.

Had dinner at the splendidly refurbished Fountain pub. The best salmon katsu curry I've ever tasted, so fresh! gyozas tasty and plump. This is a real find in this area, better cooking than some of the japanese places in town even. Highly recommend.

this was the worst sushi I've had in my life. I never leave reviews but this time I just had too. The maki were overfilled and falling appart, the rice was still warm and quite mushy, and whoever thought tempura philadelpia roll was a good idea should be shot. If you care about food quality dont order the sushi here.

I ordered through Deliveroo. Sushi was better than I expected. Very tasty. Not the cheapest place but i think i will order again.

I was really really unhappy with my food from Kata. I had the sushi variety dish and the fish really smelled off. Especially the prawn and the smaller salmon rolls. Definitely wasn’t made fresh to order. As the sushi was packed next to the teriyaki, it was also warm. I had a couple of bits of the sushi before I realised it smelled off, and then had to throw the rest away. It gave me a bad stomach ache.I’m so upset as I haven’t treated myself to sushi in awhile and I was looking forward to this. It was really awful and I’m so disappointed.Kata need to check what other fish they have been using because it’s not fresh and that’s dangerous.I've emailed the restaurant to let them know and haven't heard back. Really disappointing.

Ordered takeaway direct with Kata over the phone. Best to order direct as spends over £25 get a free side and free delivery. Sushi rolls were very good. 4 stars as it's a bit on the pricey side, but really good quality food and I will order again!

plus side... food was kinda hot and the sushi looked presentable. Bad side no flavour just bland and over cooked salmon which was so suprising because its supposed to be Japanese and they deffo know how to cook a piece of Salmon! Just so disappointed 😞 pressed the button for noodles and got rice and when I called up to let them know the member of staff decides to tell me I don't want raw salmon! Just cooked nicely would have been good thanks mate! I know sometimes mistakes are made however it really bugs me when restaurants try to make out you don't know how to cook!! It was rock hard and dry!! Oh well the hunt for decent take out sushi continues!

EDIT:Once, I could could get through to them over the phone, we rectified the issue quite swiftly. I was impressed by their politeness and prompt action - the opposite of the initial experience. Turns out it's worth giving a second chance sometimes.I placed an order for dinner via a third party app. I have not received half of my order. I told the delivery gentleman who said he cannot do anything about it, I need to call the restaurant. I tried to contact the restaurant, but nobody answered the phone number given via the app or on their own website. The app's customer service could not help sort my issue as Kata Japanese @Brouhaha has never marked my order as complete (note I am writing this review 24 hours later as I could still not get through to the restaurant and the app still cannot do anything, because my order is still not marked as delivered). So a day later, have not received half of my dinner for last night or a refund for its price. This is not great service from either of the companies. I am beyond disappointed (and was hungry as well last night...).

I've been going to them for takeaways for several years and the service has always been good. They are not the cheapest but the quality of the sushi and curries is excellent. Delivery is prompt even in bad weather and at busy times of the day. I had a mistake with an order once when only 1 beer was delivered instead of the 4 I'd ordered, this was sorted with a call to the restaurant and 4 beers were delivered straight away at no extra cost 🙂

Japanese food available, medium range. The staff at the bar is not very friendly. They ask you to pay at the table before even to open the bottle of wine.
