Golden Lion in Havering

The Lion is an old pub with a good selection of beers.It is right by Romford Market and is generally busy and friendly.There is a reasonably sized beer garden and the standard pub food menu.There are numerous screens showing sport and a surprisingly good one in the garden.This is one of Romford's better pubs.

Friendly staff, the food was ordeŕd via an app and was slow to be served, we had to find our own, cutlery and one of our meals didn't arrive until we ask for it and then we had to prove we had ordered it. There's an option to order drinks via the app and it allows you to pay for it but it doesn't reach the bar so we had to also ask for our drinks. They had a very good group playing a variety of music.

Great staff. Rory made us feel so welcome. We got chatting to other customers. Such a friendly place. We enjoyed a few G&Ts and some food which was just the ticket.

Great team! Rory puts on pub quizzes and live events and is such a great host. The team is great - thank you Natalie, Kelly, Pete, Louise, Louise, Maya, Maclaren, Callum, Neil, Stuart and Lisa for always making us feel so welcome!!

Nice friendly, clean pub, food was ok,although the chips were really salty, I know the menu said salted chips as a side, but they was just to salty for mine and my husbands taste, I also found the bun and chicken dry, but my husband enjoyed his so its all just everyone's personal choice. But would recommend this pub.

We went on a Saturday night in January and it was very busy, but I'd like to come back in the summer as there is a nice open beer garden out back that looked great.The staff were friendly and helpful, the drinks reasonably priced and the food was delicious.There's easy parking in the multistory carpark round the corner for a few pounds.

Very disappointed with my meal in the Golden Lion on Sunday 9/1/22. Had a roast beef dinner, quality very poor, presentation poor, looked like it had been thrown on the plate, felt like veggies had been left over from Christmas ( Brussels and red cabbage) I should have brought it to the attention of the staff, but, unfortunately didn’t!!! Will say though in the past have eaten in the pub, (not roast) and meal has been very good. This review although disappointing will not stop me from returning to the Golden Lion, staff in there first class……….

Best pub in Romford & London! Excellent staff & excellent choice of drink & food. Rory is a brilliant manager who always has a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Customer service is A1. Highly recommend this pub and I love the choice of wines (& hubby loves the real Ales too) . It’s a real gem and Rory makes it especially so.

Great atmosphere, service and staff.Family friendly and lots of choice on the menu to suit everyone- Tasty food from Perry.Had a family function here the other week and the bar staff Nat, Paul and Lou were very accommodating to our needs and quick service. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm born and bred in Romford and there is simply no better pub I'd rather spend my spare time in than the Golden Lion!It ticks every single box. The building itself is 600+ years old and is like sitting in a slice of history. The ambience and atmosphere there is amazing!The staff are simply wonderful too! Since lockdown rules allowed, I've been going there several times a week and the current roster of staff is the best the Lion has ever had! Natalie and Louise G most often serve me and I couldn't want for a friendlier, warmer pair, such excellent service! I've also really appreciated all the other staff too including Gemma, Theresa, Louise F, Taylor, Rory etc etc, there's not a bad apple amongst them.The food is also exceptional at really good value. I'm currently making my way through their new menu and loving every bite! And their drink selection is brilliant too.I highly recommend this pub! 10/10 🍻
