Lovely friendly pub. The food is nice too. Never had a bad meal there in the daytime. I went for an evening meal once and the food was, 'OK'. I'm hoping it was a one off day. Nevertheless, I have returned many times during the day and always enjoyed it. Staff are always friendly.

I would like to thank all the staff at the Optimist in Upminster for such good service and excellent buffet on Monday, 13th June 2022 at our dear father’s wake. The food exceeded our expectation, was well presented and reasonably priced. Staff displayed our photo boards & table flowers around our allocated area which was spacious, well laid out & well ventilated. I would recommend this venue for similar gatherings.

WOW!! What an amazing pub with delicious food!I walked into the pub and was quickly greeted by Lynsey who took my order. The order was:Breaded mushroomsSirloin steak with peppercorn sauceJ20(orange)Dave had bought my cutlery and also the food to the table. He’s such a valuable member of staff and so helpful. What can I say the food was cooked to perfection with such polite and lovely staff I will be definitely recommending this pub to everyone!Massive 10/10 from me!.

Great place to have a beer and a decent lunch. Great atmosphere, still got the old school country pub feel. All I would say though is that the service was slow with the food. Perhaps a few more staff needed?

Visited mid week for a quick bite to eat and can honestly say the chilli was absolutely lovely. Its so reasonably priced as well so will definitely start visiting more often. It's a nice quiet local pub, with a nice beer garden, perfect for the summers days.

Another pub in the Ember Inns chain. We were going to have lunch at The Harrow but when we couldn't get a table we popped in here instead. So glad we did. It was a lot quieter than The Harrow making for a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The staff were great and so was the food.

Recently moved into the area again. What can I say about the pub that hasn’t been praised already! What a lovely family pub, dog friendly as well (RESULT)! The team are a lovely attribute to this outstanding pub with every member of the team being very hospitable and polite! I’ll be back every dog walk now!

Went for a bit of lunch at this establishment with some friends that I haven't seen in a long time.Food was brilliant and the service was fantastic considering that they were short staffed and were attending to a wake at the same time. A lovely young lady called Louise kept checking in on us to see how everything was and even answered any questions we had about the food even though she was really busy. Will definitely be returning just because because staff is so lovely.

Ordered a pint of Peroni which had a bit of head on it. I let it settle and asked if it could be topped up. A male with a beard who said he was the manager accused me of drinking it, grab the glass and poured a bit of beer in the glass. Attached is photo of pint topped up. Is this good customer service??
