The Gate in Hillingdon

We went to the Gate recently with our grandchildren as it was my granddaughters birthday. The whole experience was a great disappointment. The children ordered nuggets and chips. The kitchen had run out of nuggets, because they were changing their menus!!! My husband ordered chicken with ribs, this too was out, as they were changing menus!! We settled for fish & chips and regret to say that was terrible. the portion was small and chips were just about warm. Needless to say the children wasted their food too. So much for a birthday treat.

It's fine but wasn't really what I was looking for. Don't expect a selection of fine wines. The gin offer is fine - no curated menu but sufficient options. It's a chain and feels like one.

Really loved the service and how quickly my food came. Such kind staff and was quiet and lots of free seating when we went.

Clean and well presented. Wasn't busy when i was there and had more of a restaurant than pub feel but overall not bad

So I stopped off at this pub to say goodbye to one of my friends who was leaving the area. We arrived at 23:00 as we didn’t know they were having leaving drinks and asked us to stop by. As my friends were drinking I offered to drive to save hassle. When we arrived it was very dark so the reviews saying there are signs around the car park were not noticeable. As we entered the pub the bar lady (who was very friendly) let us know that last orders had already been called and we could not get a final drink. We understood this as it was closing time and would be unfair on the staff. We stayed for until 23:20 and decided to leave for a pub that would be open longer. I have just received a car parking fine for £85. The fact that we were not told about the car registration when we walked straight to the table after entering was not really fair. Furthermore, the letter of the date starts from the 19th January. I received the letter today which only gives me a day to respond to stop paying the full price (which is clearly deliberate). Such a shame to see good local pubs like this supportIng and using extorting car parking companies. As I didn’t purchase a drink due to the bar being shut I have now had to try messaging my friend for her to send her bank purchase at the bar over to settle this. The fact the pub don’t have direct access to the company is appalling and a stab in the back to hard work people who just want to have a drink and see friends. Will definitely not be coming back here.

Stopped off at this country pub just on the off chance as I needed my phone charged urgently. The bartender was very helpful and assisted me in a prompt and professional manner.The ambiance in this pub is very relaxed and family friendly. I would certainly pay them a visit if I ever do pass this neighbourhood again.

Christmas Eve absolutely disaster! The most charming pub in the area turn out to be club with the black music ,nothing to do with Christmas ,evening created for only very young people and massively overcrowded . Very disappointed with the Christmas Eve evening because the reason why we chose this pub was because normally is very quiet and charming but today someone get the idea just wrong .

Decidedly average made worse by two young surly waitresses. Served starters with attitude and no cutlery and not happy when asked for serviettes. Wanting to serve main when still eating starter and when ready the pasta was so dry after being under lamp. Burger and chips average chips soggy after waiting to be served.Will not go again. That said the barman and the lady running the food side of things were lovely and professional trying rectify matters and was massively appreciated thank you.

We were in the area and we looked for place to eat. this was our first choice and we weren't disappointed.Fish and chips was good and tasty!Great interior to sit next fireplace at cold autumn evening.Staff were polite and it's good to see smile on their faces. Good job!Strongly recommend!
