Walked a mile to come and eat because Google said they was open. Came in and said not till after 3 without even offering a drink or anything . Not very friendly staff

We had a really chilled afternoon here. A great smell of mulled wine to which we succumbed to....mmmmm. The open fires (there are two) and the quiet hubbub made such a lovely vibe...thank you.

Walked passed it many times so nice to ge able to pop in for the first time. Bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Beer was good, didn't eat so can't comment on food but looked nice.

Best pint of Peroni in Islington. Bar staff ain’t bad either! :) x

Had a very poor experience here for what we thought was going to be a lovely Christmas meal. I had booked a large table for the Christmas set menu and found the food to be rubbish. For £70 a head we expected nothing less than amazing starters and home-cooked-style roast. The meat was incredibly dry, as though it had sat in a warming tray for hours. The tortellini tasted store bought and the crab filling tasted borderline rancid. Somehow even the Yorkshire puddings were burnt. The staff themselves were lovely and I can't fault their service, however due to the meals being so expensive - we paid a considerable amount of service charge that I'm not sure was justified by the experience on the day.Ultimately the Christmas feast did not deliver and had us wondering if any of the food was fresh. Can't fault the Duchess of Kent as a pub (I think it has one of the nicest interiors for pubs in the Islington area) but I wouldn't count on having a nice meal there from this experience.

Good guinness, pub quiz on Mondays, nice menu but a bit pricey £££

Attentive staff, delicious food and amazing fast service. There’s not many pubs these days during COVID that you can expect a drink in less than 2 minutes waiting! Amazing! The food (although we only had the triple cooked chips and ox cheek nuggets with pickled cucumbers) was delicious!Great selection of beer and wine and I genuinely can’t wait to be able to have a beer indoors from the 17th May!Only small criticism is the price of booze - £6.30 was the price for a pint of peroni but I’m in post-COVID london, so…

Newly refurbished...different colour scheme and new furniture this was the trial run ...a free 2 course meal offered. We hadn't been for 15 months as the food had gone down hill..so give it a go. Starter of oyster fried in breadcrumbs excellent...main courses less so...partner had faggotts and mash..tasty but a little over salted. Good portion size. My burger...not good enough for the price even with a bap...see photos. Staff were keen although communications not great...asked at least twice for most things. Pleasant waiting staff and they listened to the feedback..surprised that there are no black youngsters looking for jobs...but the manager..not at all interested. In response to a complaint about the burger and chips "that's how we do it here'...perhaps they shouldn't. Will we go back? It is remarkably convenient oh missing HRD 129 now that was a good burger!.....
