Absolute gem of a restaurant. If you want flash and swanky it is probably not for you but the quaint interior, to me, is absolutely delightful. The food was excellent and the service top rate. My only regrets are not having been sooner and not being able to finish my gnocchi (which is now safely in my fridge for lunch tomorrow - thanks James).

Genuine Italian food, friendly and professional service, reasonably priced. Excellent value for money

I really did not enjoy my experience at Il Portico, I think the staff taking away my plates 3/4 full and refusing a take away bag said it all! Over priced and less than mediocre... much better Italian restaurants in the area. I read a review of someone saying they have been dining there since the 70's and then it clicked...the resturant is stuck in the past and cannot match - modern authentic Italian dining.

Warm and attentive service, excellent recommendation of wine. One of the staff seem unwell (coughing) and would have appreciated if he was wearing a mask.

It's my first google review, I don't like to comment restaurant, but this time I am deeply disappointed by the service of II Portico. The food is ok, I enjoy the partridge's taste but not the foreign matter in it. I told the male waiter (or he seems like a manager) that the foreign matter almost broke my tooth, he responded insouciantly that it often happens since the bird is caught in the wild. How dare he explains two tiny iron balls embedded in the meat by this ridiculous reason? Even if his explanation is fair and this situation often happens, he surely has an obligation to remind me in advance. In the end, he didn't apologize to me and he just blew me off. The whole process seems very common in this place, which can show the degraded service standard of this once glorious restaurant. Anyway, the good food and cozy atmosphere cannot pay off this flakey, slapdash, pushy, and dishonest male waiter. Finally, I would suggest this restaurant to my worst friends.

The red wine exclusive to Il Portico - expensive but you HAVE to try it. I’ve never had a better red wine in my life.Rack of lamb with polenta cakes. Polenta cakes could do with a touch of salt but absolutely lovely all round.

Very friendly staff food is excellent and good quality how ever one down side interior needs to renovate otherwise its 20 out of 20

·

Lovely family restaurant. Its been in the family for something like 5 generations, amazing. Only problem was that I was so focused on eating that I didn't take any pictures! The beer was also nice of course

Delicious tasting authentic Italian food with great service. Really enjoyed a meal here and the menu is superb. Great choice with lots of variety with info showing where the food is sourced. The specials are great the location with outside gazebos really is a nice touch. Would recommend

Good Italian restaurant with the look and feel of your local family friendly Italian. The service is really good and the food is also good. The wine selection is what you expect from a completely authentic Italian and the menu has got all the classics. I'm not giving a 5 stars to Il Portico because the pork ragu lacks the amazing flavour I was expecting, but it a place worth paying a visit.
