Good atmosphere and great spot for drinks but the place is let down by the kitchen... an interesting menu with high ambitions, but the result was underwhelming... The food was under-seasoned, our fish course was overcooked etc. I would expect better quality to match the ambition of the restaurant.

I had to plan a big dinner at the last minute & with people in fashion it’s never quite easy! At Gold they accommodate all our needs, served amazing food and with their lovely manners & care they made our night special. Thank you!

Worst dining experience I've ever had in my life. It's really dirty there, the staff is rude and the service a nightmare. The server got angry at us for no apparent reason, he then told us in a snarky tone that if we didn't intend to order anything to eat then we weren't welcome there. It then took them close to 40 minutes just to get the drinks we ordered, at that point the beer and soda were warm and had lost most of its carbonation. When we asked for them to replace the drinks the server only shrugged at us and turned to some other customers. We then had to wait another 25 minutes until the food came, not only that but it was cold food that we hadn't even ordered. At that point we tried to get in touch with the server with no luck. He ignored us completely. We got up and went and paid for the two warm drinks that we got at the bar.Never again.

I went for the bar and oysters, not the hotel. The place is a little rough and service is cool and relaxed. Oyster are big and amazing!!5 stars for the oysters and white wine but only 2 for the place.

We only popped in for a drink to escape the sun, however were pleasantly surprised! Quirky place, very friendly staff, good beer, interesting decor, this place has it all! I especially liked reading the history of the place on the card in each table. An excellent little pub!

Old school local bar with friendly atmosphere and mix of tourists and locals. More of a restaurant than a normal bar these days but still nice enough, food is good (even if portions - such as the fish and chips - are very small!).

The staff were very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The room was clean and compact with free wifi and an en-suite wet room. Breakfast was provided in the morning in the downstairs area that serves as a bar during the evening. Really great atmosphere and playlist throughout the afternoon into the evening. The hotel is well-located on the bustling Portobello Road and is only a short-walk from the nearby Ladbroke Grove tube station, this allows you to be in the city centre within 30 minutes. Very much value for money and I'd definitely be happy to return!

Everything was great, staff, food, service, but because they were busy, they were understaffed. Our server was too preoccupied with his party on the roof and seemed too rushed with us. Staffing seems to be a problem in quite a few restaurants and pubs in the area though.

Stopped in for Sunday Roast with my wife, and we were seated in the funky and decidedly fun back patio. Food was excellent, service well above average. I loved the way they used the space, using mirrors to easily double or triple the look of the space.I was intrigued by the art work, my wife was familiar with Peregrine Heathcote but I was not. The pieces added a very nice "excitement of foreign travel feel", which since we were on holiday really worked well. Turns out this very popular artist spent a great deal of time on Portobello Road, since his dad was an antique dealer there. Might have even passed his shop, I do remember a Militaria Dealer with an EXTENSIVE collection nearby....But I digress....We both decided to have Sunday roast and the food was fantastic, presentation was on the mark, and the pints of Thatchers were perfectly chilled. The decor, arrangement of the room and hidden booths, tropical plants and such, worked perfectly for Portobello Road, since travel and antiques and dreams of a bygone era are the cornerstones of this wonderful part of London.I assure you, next time we find ourselves on Portobello Road, at some point each day during that visit, you will find us comfortably ensconced in it's welcoming arms, and in fact you may need a pry bar to get me out.
