I would give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely disgusting service. I ordered takeaway from here on Deliveroo that never arrived. I placed an order at 7pm on a Friday night. An hour later, I got a phone call from the restaurant telling me the order was going to be 15-20 mins late due to a shortage of drivers. I thought, okay no big deal. Another hour goes by and still no food or follow up phone call. So I contacted Deliveroo and an agent told me it would arrive in 5 mins. Nope. Nearly 3 hours later, I asked Deliveroo to cancel my order and to process my refund. An agent from Deliveroo said that because the restaurant “delivered” my order and also called me when they arrived.. which they NEVER did.. they cannot give me a refund. Imagine coming home from a long day of work, waiting over 3 hours for food which never arrives and then being told no refund. How are these people allowed to just steal money like that? Stay away and DO NOT order from here.

Being an Indian, I was in search of authentic Indian food for weeks. I asked my friends to accompany me to the restaurant and It was my first time to encounter a restaurant that was completely empty. we were surprised as when I read the reviews It seemed very busy place, but reality was different. When I went to the restaurant the interior was dreadful and the place seemed like dead. I asked the owner about the business, he replied that it is low due to covid. we ordered naan bread, kadhai Paneer and butter chicken. The food took half n hour to come to our table. Both the dishes were very greasy and naan bread was undercooked. When I took the first bite of paneer with naan bread it was so bland, sweet and the peppers were almost raw. It was not even imaginably close to authentic Indian Food. The food didn't have the taste or look. Chicken was sweet as well and was overloaded with cream. It had some awful taste at the end of the bite which sticks to the palate for sometime.Overall it was a poor experience, I would not recommend anyone to try their food.

Very tasty and authentic Bengali cusine, Tandoori dishes are cooked well with excellent flavours and the naan breads are incredible.

We had mixed grill , naan bread , pilau rice and daal . Food was excellent , and so was the warm welcome of the owner . We will definitely come again .

Was greeted by the owner who overcharged me and refused to followed his own rules. Refused to give me the 10% discount for a cash payment as well. Tablecloth was dirty and stained. The general atmosphere was give me money and get out. The food was reasonable enough but there are so many better places out there for sure.

Lovely food 🥘 enjoyed a delicious vegetable biryani with Aloo pratha... great Indian food 🥘 😋😋❤️❤️🙌🏻

Brilliant restaurant that has survived here since 1982 under the same ownership. One of the oldest in the area, that says a lot. Service is good, have drinks on drafts and prices are reasonable. They accommodated us very late on Boxing Day and most importantly the food was great, at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Been here often and have been introducing this place to my friends. I would say this to be one of the best indian cuisine in kingston. Great taste and modified as per request. As a biryani fan! The biryani here wasn't much of real flavours but loved the mix of chicken, lamb and prawn!! Lovely it was. Also the papdom with the dips 😉 cosy place with melodious hindi classical songs.

Was looking for an informal curry house near Kingston Hospital and was pleasantly surprised with Akbar. The restaurant is small but welcoming. Portions were quite generous, tasty and not sat in a sea of oil (which you see in a lot of restaurants/takeaways). Losing one star as my boyfriend's duck jalfrezi tasted like a curry 'base' and didn't have much flavour, so it seems you have to know what to order here (my green chicken masala was amazing). Plus they sold '660ml' bottles of Cobra when in fact they were 620ml.
