A pity. The whole reason to have a local fishmonger, rather than use (excellent) services like PeskyFish, is to have a sense of community. I called up yesterday to let them know I would be popping by just before 3, with my 6 month old son. I was treated to unwelcoming, monosyllabic replies by the elderly lady who answered up the phone. When I showed up, all the fish had been taken off the display and I was shooed away by the same lady.I will be taking my money elsewhere, especially as I am sure I can get better value and more of a guarantee of sustainability.Again, a real shame that a shop like this thinks it is above the local community it serves.

Of course I remember the good old days at Jarvis fishmonger in the 1980's and before when they were queues out the door every day and many of the Japanese ladies of South London would cue for their essential sushi fish supplies. Old Gordon Jarvis would be serving and was more than cheeky at times. Lovely guy. Gordon is long gone now but you can feel him there. I have long moved from the area but sometimes when I'm in Kingston I go back and remember. The fish is still good and the service is okay on the whole. But it has seen its heyday. They still know how to smoke salmon to an incredible and unique standard. However those special times are gone and standards have fallen a bit, sadly. Jarvis still holds a precious place in our hearts however. Long live!

Really really kind older gentlemen helped me out, give me ideas and I was able to get huge scallops shells (at no cost) for a gift project. Thank you so much!

This is a brilliant fishmonger - a good selection of first class fish and sea produce. The staff is helpful and accommodating.

Great selection of fish, seafood but also frozen fish, vegetables bread and wine. Even got frozen snails last time. This is the only fishmonger I found where they have fresh langoustine. Of course this comes at a price.

Awful, stinky, dark shop. Scallops I bought were not fresh and also 20% of the weight were scallop trimmings instead of round proper scallops which would never happen in other fishmongers, it looke like I bought fish cake mix instead!

A classy - albeit not cheap - fishmongers. Great range of shellfish and fresh fish. Get there early in the morning for the most enticing displays. The offer of coffees and mulled wine for those of freezing our bits off in the Christmas Eve queue was very welcome.

I called to query the amount paid as I was not given a receipt and unfortunately the lady was extremely rude. She wasn't sure of the price of canned sardines and insisted that I misread the price tag for the pasta. Despite the fresh calamari, I will not be visiting again.

Ordered fish soup, lobster soup & 1kg of smoked salmon for delivery for the Easter weekend. The order arrived on the morning I specified (Good Friday) and the parcel was well wrapped. I was unsure how the soups would taste as they had a log shelf life, but both soups were delicious - tasted like they had been freshly made, they were very flavoursome and meaty. The smoked salmon was absolutely delicious - really great quality, lean and it just crumbled. Brilliant overall and will definitely be ordering again!

Great produce but check the prices and don't expect friendliness in store. A whole bream was fairly priced per kg but more expensive than that week's prices per their own website, and charging £6.50 for a bunch of asparagus (when it comes from a farm you can buy it directly from for £2.50) is outrageous profiteering. Shame
