K J Restaurant in Kingston upon Thames

Very small portion of sashimi costs 70 pounds. Don't recommend. If you know the what Japanese and Korean food like, don't go there. Don't understand why people give positive feedback. Even I can make that better at home.

Not sure what the complaints are all about. Everything tasted great, food came quickly. We got kimchi, bean sprout, cucumber on the side and miso soup. Not the cheapest but will come back again.

Never been to a restaurant came across such impolite waitress, later found out she is the Manageress. We saw other tables had side dishes served as soon as they sat down, so we asked for some, she said only served with main course which is not true. My son and husband were in the same restaurant on a different table as we girls had a pre xmas gathering. My son brought over us their side dishes as too spicy for them. Most of our food came still no side dish. We asked them to bring some for us and they said we had it already. We explained that was my husband's table side dishes. The manageress was in a very rude manner saying she would give us this time but not next time. We felt like being accused we wee lying. Even later when my husband paid the bill and told her that he gave us their side dishes. She never came to apologise.Food was ok but not for the price, the dishes are tiny, you can go somewhere for better service. Never seen her smiling to any customer.We would not go back there again and NOT recommend to hold party there if you want a great time. Our party was ruined.

I recommend sashimi course. They offer their food in authentic Korean way.

It provides cleaner and fresher food than any other Korean town restaurant, and it doesn't smell of barbecue compared to other Korean restaurants. But every time I go, I always feel that the serving staff are so unfriendly.. So 4 out of 5 stars.

Love the Gganpunggi! So juicy and tender. Not too spicy, nor too sweet.LA galbi is on the chewy side, samgyeopsal is good with lettuce and ssamjang. Minimum 2 portions for table top BBQ. Charcoal is used, which is a big plus.Staff are friendly, toilets are clean, tap water is available (as required by law), not too expensive, service charge added to final bill

Decent food, decent service, I’ve tried a number of both Korean and Japanese dishes here over the years and they have been consistently good 😊 (I was worried about the quality after the lockdown but it seems they have kept the standard 🙏)

I was a little skeptical to visit after reading reviews but a Korean friend recommended this restaurant to me so I decided to go with my friend and my daughter for lunch. So glad we went! Lovely service from the young man working Weds afternoon. Food was delicious, portions very generous! When I asked for a small spoon for my daughter the waiter bought over a kids cutlery set, very much appreciated. We ordered two bento boxes and an udon set with sushi, we were so full! We requested a takeaway box for our leftovers and this was given to us with no problems. Really happy to recommend KJ and looking forward to coming back again soon.

If you’re deciding between different Korean places in New Malden, and are considering this restaurant, then just go with it, the food is excellent and you won’t regret your choice. The Korean dishes are authentic and served in good quantities with lovely ‘banchan’ (sides) and rice. Portions are good, and the Japanese selection including sushi is of a good quality and a nice bonus.
