The Calf in Lambeth

Nice pub, nice atmosphere with the sofas. Nice selection of beers. Been there several times it's never very busy (yet atmospheric). Perfect to relax during the day or for a slightly quieter night out.

Despite all the guest ale beer mats displayed on the wall, they only had a watery IPA on draught during my visit. Food was OK and reasonable value for the location.

One of my favourite pubs in London. Delicious beer, great size but above all the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Nice pub been coming here for years but if you want roast dinner make sure you get here very very early after 4pm no chance chips burgers only 😐

A great oasis away from the hectic high street of clapham. Good selection of food and drink. Often much quieter than other places on a weekend afternoon, only a short walk from clapham common.

Could do with a few more comfy chairs and less aggressive lighting. Nice touch being able to choose the music via Secret Dj app. Friendly staff. Decent range of drink options.

As soon as you walk in the staff welcome you and the whole atmosphere is buzzing with a fun and friendly vibe. Food is impeccable, especially the venison. Definitely worth a visit, or two :)

Had Sunday lunch there for 6 people 7.12.14. Just awful. Starter for £6. of chorizo had only 5 small pieces. We complained and they brought a few more.The roast beef roast was the worst roast I've had. 2 small dry and chewy pieces of beef, a Yorkshire pudding that belongs to pancake day and a few bits of undercooked vegetables.We complained and were given a few extra pieces of Beef. So much choice of great places to go for Sunday lunch in Clapham we will not be going to The Calf again.

Very disappointing - Food and service terrible.Went here for Sunday lunch with friends.It should have been a sign to us that the pub was half empty.The service was terrible, we'd been in the pub for an hour and 20 mins before we ordered our mains and this was us going to the bar to get them to come over.Our roasts came and vital pieces to the roast were missing and we had to point this out (apparently the waitress didn’t notice and when asked, it had been happening all day!)The roast potatoes were actually new potatoes and had been roasted so badly they were like rubbery bullets. Other veg on the plate were cooked badly. The chef’s just don’t care what they serve you.Portions are small and not worth the £12-15 for the dish.As a group there are a couple of foodies, we have banned this pub and will never come here again. A Mcdonalds would have been better value, food and service. If you’re looking for a roast in Clapham, head to the Landor.

Okay pub, but not as gastro as it portrays itself as. Service can be very slow at busy times. Food is good, but not excellent for the price. Drinks varied, but more in the alcopop direction than real ale.
