The Oval Lounge in Lambeth

A real quality restaurant. We spent roughly 2 weeks in London and pretty much ate out breakfast lunch and dinner every day. We happen to be staying in Oval and visted here 3 times, The food at 24 oval is definitely up there with the best food we had.

Should have been 5* all day long!After reading the local review in the Kennington Runoff, we were excited about visiting 24 The Oval for Sunday Roast. It is a lovely bistro with a small grocery section as you walk in, it has a relaxed and warm atmosphere, with welcoming and friendly staff.We ordered a Bloody & Vigin Mary which were good and spicy and among the best locally. They then brought us complimentary sourdough and smoked butter, followed by what I would describe as Yorkshire Pudding Doughnuts and gravy, all of which were delicious.We ordered a lamb and chicken roast. The veg was all very well cooked and well seasoned, the roast potatoes crispy and there was plenty of everything. The roasts also come with cauliflower cheese as standard, which was very well made and once again one of the best locally (many I've tried are either undercooked, if at all or boiled to a soggy lump).My disappointment however was with the meat. The chicken (breast & drumstick) was tasty and moist, but the skin was soggy and not crisp. The lamb came two ways, shoulder which was slow cooked and pulled (I'm guessing, didn't say on the menu) and a slice of lambs leg. The leg was a tasty cut of meat, but it was one very thin slice that was slightly dry and tough. My guess is it had been warmed up under the grill and left there for too long. Unfortunately it was rather underwhelming.For me a roast is all about the meat, potatoes and gravy and 2 of the 3 were very good, but at £22 I would expect better.I would definitely still recommend 24 The Oval, and am keen to see how the roast beef is served and try their midweek A La Carte menu.

Love this place! We are from Melbourne, Australia, and come to this restaurant every time we visit London. Great selection of vegetarian options as well as meat options! Service is also fantastic every time. Would definitely recommend!!

Came here last night for a hen party, the venue is small, homely and intimate, the food was amazing, so much flavours, Cooked really well, the flavours was on point and that's coming from someone who's background is the Caribbean!, I'm not keen on English food as it lacks flavour, but this place was lovely, the staff was lovely and patient, we had a lovely host, didn't catch her name but she was brilliant at keeping the drinks and food coming.I will definitely be coming back, throughly enjoyed myself

We visited 24 The Oval for their Sunday Roast as it is a sister restaurant to Knife (one of our favourite restaurants in London!). We felt like it’s a perfect lunch version of Knife (less rustic and a bit more spacious) and really love their food - the staff are all on a mission to feed you till you’re deliciously full!Highlight of the day: Cauliflower Cheese!!Things we didn’t quite enjoy: Charred Corn in our starter (it’s tasteless and really hard to bite) + our seats next to the vertical plant wall (plants in the bottom section of the wall are dying with little flies/insects hanging around)

I love this place.I was lucky to find this place as I don’t head this way. The luckiest quick drink. Now I will definitely be going out my way to come here.I had time to kill so I went in for a drink, I drank and saw quality wines one the menu.Fantastic simple decor, the loveliest staff and what looks to be a great menu.Everything seems to be excellent and reasonably priced.I’ll be booking a meal there as soon as possible, any excuse to go!

Great location, delicious food, wonderful service with a smile and pretty decor.The food was amazing! We could not belive how wonderful the rib eye, mushroom Wellington, croquettes and octopus salad were.The lady serving was lovely....very talkative, polite and informative. Thanks for be so welcoming and helpful.Great location...as there isn't much in the area apart from takeaway places this is a lovely sight. Looks very trendy too.We will be back so see you soon!

Came here for the brunch and stayed for the freshly made beers! An up and coming brewery this place has it all, cute decor, delicious food, incredible service. New local spot for sure, can't wait to try their Sunday roasts, make sure you book them in! The owner was amazing too and showed us around his micro brewery downstairs l, definitely coming back here for affordable and delicious craft brews.

Local restaurant in Oval serving amazing food at a great price and sister restaurant to the Knife in Clapham.Decor is excellent with downstairs basement that can be hired out for functions. When you have food this good on site there is no better way to celebrate something.With a large patio at the front and small garden at the back summer time this will be the place to come.Staff are attentive, cocktail and wine list are great. If you live local what are you waiting for book it now.
