Dewaniam Indian Restaurant in Lewisham

This used to be our favourite Friday night curry, mainly because they did amazing vegan dishes which my partner loved, and the meaty curries were pretty good too. Now they’ve removed the vegan options entirely we won’t be ordering from here again. Such a shame as we’ve been regular customers for a few years!

The Dewaniam used to offer a brilliant vegan menu before the old management moved on to open a new restaurant in Brixton. The new managers aren't offering a vegan menu and must be surprised by how much the restaurant's turnover has fallen. And given how expensive the dishes were, the profit margins must have been fantastic. So they've lost loyal supporters and lost good business. Very silly.

Really disappointing service from new management!!! No longer providing vegan dishes! One of my favourite restaurants that we ordered from frequently. Went from being one of the best to one of the worst instantly. How can an Indian restaurant not cater to serve vegans as well as vegetarian! Such a shortsighted decision for something your chefs could deliver so easily to such a high standard! I’ve recommended to all my neighbours to visit this restaurant and now I can’t order anything on the menu! Will not recommend again until the decision changes.

I have been ordering from here for years. The service is splendid and the food is delicious. My favourite Indian takeaway for taste and value.

Really hate to be giving my fave takeaway a 1 star review but it is solely for the purpose that new management have removed all vegan items from their menu! Called the restaurant and they confirmed they’d sold to new owners and the new owners didn’t want to cater to vegans. Really disappointing and a decision I don’t understand. I’m gonna miss ordering from this place a lot.

Really delicious food with good portion sizes, helpful and polite service that feels really genuine. Plenty of vegan options, and quick delivery when I ordered direct with them.

I was looking forward to this as a treat to myself. However, I was beyond disappointed. I ordered the vegetable thali along with two vegan samosas.First thing I noticed was that the containers were dripping in oil. The onion bajis were also full of oil and so were the samosas.Every single thing was a disappointment apart from the vege rice and the saag paneer which was surprisingly good. One star only cuz of that, also because I have no choice.The dishes were not spicy at all, Indian food is meant to be spicy? Not a single spec of spiciness to be found. Baby food is more spicier than what I ordered.Do not bother ordering the vegan samosas. They were the frozen shop bought kind, and not even the good ones! They were dripping in oil and tasted terrible. The onion bajis along with dripping with oil and tasting like oil, were slightly sweet? Which to me is unusual, they should not be sweet.The mint chutney was also sweet. Again, it should not be sweet. Maybe rename it to sweet mint chutney to avoid misleading people.Overall lacking flavour, lacking ANY kind of chilliness (I would've accepted even the tiniest bit of chilliness), full of oil. Not an authentic restaurant at all. Also food was cold on arrival. Do not recommend. Very very disappointed.

The food here is delicious and the vegetarian and vegan options are mind blowing! What sets Dewanium above others is the brilliant customer service. Highly recommended

The food is usually nice but last night I had a bad experience with customer service. I spent nearly 15 mins deciding what to eat from the menu only to get a call back after 10 mins to tell me that they are not taking any orders. Why was this not mentioned on the website anywhere? Why was I able to order at all on the website? To make the matters worse, I have to now wait for up to 7 days to get the refund.
