The Crown Tavern in Lewisham

Unfortunately this pub is a let down, and it’s a total shame because it has some great features. First I’ll start with what i like about it. The building and the decor are great, lovely atmosphere that initially feels very welcoming. The food is a also top notch, never been even slightly disappointed with it, and I guess that’s why I have given this place multiple try’s. However, the service is absolutely terrible. The staff are rude and seem highly uninterested. Even when standing at an empty bar waiting to be served for a drink I always feel very unwelcome. The complete opposite of how a customer should feel. Furthermore, once you navigate the impolite staff the food tends to take forever to arrive. Honestly this place is a massive shame. So much potential that is wasted. 2 stars! Should be one but as stated there is some hope in there. Better management is needed to save this place!

I have been giving it a chance for the past 2 years but every single time I visit the place is doing worse rather than improving. The prices are getting higher and higher, but quality of service is not there. Every time we go, there is an issue with the food, slow service, etc. Last night we were given old and cold food. (the place was not busy at all, just a few tables) I did not ask for a replacement or refund, but when I just told the staff about the quality of the food they didn't even bother to say sorry. Either way, I hope they can improve in the future as the venue is nice, but it would be sometime until I visit again.

My go-to pub when I'm in the area. The place is big, airy, clean and has a nice big beer garden. There's a good selection of draughts & spirits and their food menu is varied enough that I'm sure anyone could find something they'd like.The staff have always been friendly and welcoming, a big part of why I return.Oh! Their loaded burger is the bees-knees.

The Crown Tavern hosted my father's wake for us. The offered us a choice of space to reserve, and we used the back end of their seating area which is nicely separated out from the main bar to allow for privacy.The venue is delightful. It's well decorated, bright, and comfortable. The buffet food provided was of a very high standard, and all staff were respectful and dealt with serving/tidying almost invisibly.In addition, it has outdoor seating in both the front and rear of the property, as well as ample parking. Locals who haven't visited the Crown in some years will be pleasantly surprised by how nice it is these days.

Simply love it here, first visit since lockdown. It's like having a country pub on your doorstep! Good atmosphere & very relaxed. Can't wait to visit again!

Unfortunately our experience was very unpleasant. We booked a table for 8pm and was told we had to order at the bar which is acceptable as they said they only had 2 members of staff working. I got to the bar at 8:15 to order and was told the kitchen closes at 9 which again is acceptable, what was unacceptable was the attitude and tone of the waitress, she couldn't be bothered to serve us and clearly she had better things to do as she a terrible attitude. We had dinner quickly and ordered dessert at 8:50 but was told we could no longer order any hot drinks as it was closed for the night... we couldn't even order a tea at 8:50? Why say you open until 11 if things were shut off at 8:50. Completely absurd to me but surely it should have been said when we entered, if this had been the case we would have gone somewhere else. At 9:30 the music was turned off and the staff had their bags out and coats ready to close. We had not finished our dessert but felt we had to leave. It was just an extremely unpleasant, uncomfortable evening to say the least.1 star is for the really nice waitress that greeted us at the door and 1 star for the food. Will not be coming back to this place. If you want a nice, relaxing, comfortable evening... please don't bother.

I booked The Crown to have a meal for 7 after a funeral. I arranged that we could park our cars and we could go to the Funeral Directors. We came back to the Crown to have our meal and ordered off the menu. The staff were very accommodating, the food was lovely and it was hot. We were never hassled and the atmosphere was just right for us all to chat. A nice experience all round.

Relaxing beer garden - food smells great!My brother and I went back last week for an evening meal - wow! I had pork and apple sausages with veg in the most amazing, tasty sauce. Absolutely delicious. The staff are sooo friendly and go the extra mile. It’s dog friendly too, Ted loved the attention! Ticking all the boxes so far . . .

Lovely, friendly pub. Really nice food & friendly service, although you have to order through the app, which was a bit of a pain, (much prefer table orders being taken). However, really enjoyable garden with heaters.

This is a post lockdown review. Went for dinner on 3-Aug with wife and son. Food was well prepared, nicely presented and tasty; the staff were extremely pleased to see us. The pub has good social distancing rules so no problem with hygiene. Still a little bit empty and staffing levels are low but it looks like a recovering business.
