The Gurkhas Flavour in Lewisham

Theirs a lot of room for improvement I ate here recently,and all I could really hear in the background ,was the hungry house logging system,stating another order,has been received this is new to me that,the main source of their income is from hungry house,and not walking clients.Having said that I felt the food was exceptionally flauvorsome,but seemed to be swimming in a lot of stew.i was told by the waiter,that most things come like that,since under recommendation someone mentionioned a slow cook dry rub lamb.the closes thing I could find under chef recommendation was the 'samfu mash.Now for the overall experience.I had to wait for about 30 minutes until opening time(they don't open till 17:00),when I got there,I received a look as if I was the rent collector.the waiter was busy moping the floor ,at around 17:05,stating the restaurants not open,and would I like to take a seat,on the welcoming sofa.when I finally got to my seat,he seemed more preoccupied with the kitchens orders from hungry house,so I had to shout in order to get his attention.I was finally able to place my order,and was told by the waiter that indian,and nepalelease is the same,but if i want something very spicy go for the indian food,after ordering my food I went to the toilet,which happens to be right beside the kitchen,it was disgusting, not smelly,but unkept.when the food arrived,I didn't even have cutlery to eat it with,so I had to shout for the waiter to get some cutlery.the main reason,I've marked this so high was because although the lamb was swimming in too much stew,it was very tasty, served with tarka dal,and garlic nan bread.moving onto the deserts!!!!!!!.before I was given the menu,I was told that practically nothings available,and out of something like eight items on the menu,they only have one thing(the owner feels its a waste of money since it goes to waste,they might as well be working out of a retail park,and just rely on hungry house orders)when the one desert arrived it was ice cream covered in nuts,set like concrete. I was offered the opportunity to have it softened up.I could only envisioned them putting it in a microwave,and so declined.ounce again the mark up was only on account of the apologetic waiter,who showed very little knowledge of the menu,and the food ,overall ,at present I believe your better off ordering through hungerhouse.

Used to love this place. It seems that it has been taken over by newer owners/management. New menu and staff. The food used to be good quality and the menu different from your bog standard Indian and this is no longer the case. Service was ridiculously slow considering we were the only ones there. Food bog standard to poor and the wine was so awful we left 3/4 of the bottle. Staff didn't even notice/care about this. I live so close and used to go in or order take away relatively frequently. No longer.

We had makhani chicken and gorkhali lamb, It was really flavoursome, lovely service from the staff, enjoyed the overall ambience, would definitely recommend.

We went here because a deal was on Groupon. If we had have paid full price, I think I would have been a bit disappointed.The waiter was nice, but the food wasn't especially interesting. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, just a bit boring. Maybe that's what Nepalese food is supposed to be like - I'm not an expert on the matter.The two doors were open so there was a fair amount of traffic noise coming into the restaurant from the busy road outside.

We went there first on a Time Out voucher deal, which was absolutely excellent value for money. The first courses in particular were delicious, especially the momos (Nepalese dumplings) but we loved all the food, so much so that we have been back several times. We have always found the staff friendly and the service good. It is a very small room with only about three or four small tables, so it is not surprising if it's hard to get a booking when the food is so good, but we have always gone just after they have opened in the evening, without a booking, and have never failed to get a table. They are now our go-to (or rather, stay-in) place for delivered meals as well. Although we live in East Dulwich where there are loads of Indian type restaurants, we think The Gurkhas Flavour beats them hands down and has a much more interesting menu than the bog standard khormas etc (though you can get those as well if you really want). I can't understand the couple of negative reviews on here. In particular, if you have a voucher with a certain time limit and conditions, why on earth should any restaurant change those conditions to suit you? You knew the score when you bought the voucher, and they have a business to run! The time limit on the voucher is quite long! It's very unfair to accuse them of poor customer service just because you didn't get your act together! We have always found their customer service very good!

Management need to attend a training course on customer service and marketing; I recently visited on a Groupon voucher and yes, people look at Groupon as a means for inexpensive dining out(me included) but also as an inexpensive way of trying out a local (or not so local) establishment and determining if it is worth a revisit or recommendation to a friend(me included) . Work does not lend itself well to a week night out and seeing that the restaurant does not open on a Saturday, the only possible day was a Sunday; with great difficulty, we booked a Sunday evening (3 weeks in advance) as they were booked up well in advance (?? I really question this). Unfortunately due to a family bereavement, my partner was unable to attend the evening so I phoned the restaurant to see if in some way they could accommodate. Unfortunately the voucher was going to expire after another 2 days but they would not provide a takeaway or if I attended the restaurant, they would not provide a "doggy bag" for the second dinner. I decided that I would attend myself as I thought that "in person", they may respond differently but alas no, they would not even allow me to order the second meal or even take advantage of the second drink on offer. "As you are only one person, you can only order for one" irrespective of the voucher being valid for two people. It is the first time in my life that I have left a restaurant hungry.

20 minutes late (after waiting for over an hour already) and by far the worst tikka masala I have ever had. Both flavour and texture were gross!Will not be ordering from here again!

I have been ordering from them for about 2 years since I moved to Greenwich. I have to say, although I am quite picky about my curry, their food has consistently been top quality and delivered within predictable timelines. If you want fresh ingredients and are into a really spicy dish, I recommend trying their Jalfrezi.Their customer service is also top notch. One Friday night I ordered from them and forgot to choose the credit card option online so I had to pay cash. It was quite late and I did not realize the default "cash" option had been selected and I was short of the cash amount I had to pay. The delivery guy was very helpful and offered to come back the second day to collect payment. Needless to say, I felt compelled to get another delicious curry for Saturday dinner and repaid the previous owed amount. Amazing service, try these guys out!

Unfortunately if you run a voucher promotion you need to be able to cater to its response and actually want to provide a service which they would return and pay full price for. Not here. Really bad service, the dining room is run down and dusty, the food is all VERY oily, average and presented with no effort of enthusiasm. Im not surprised they are struggling at all. No customer service at all. Don't bother - even on a voucher,
