The Railway in Lewisham

Thank you SO MUCH to RAY the MANAGER and lovely bar staff for making our night BRILLIANT.You were from the moment I got there to when we all left just absolutely lovely to us all and I’m INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL as the night ran so smoothly. The service for our party of 22 was exceptional, and the food INCREDIBLE, (compliments to the chef)…I hope very much you remain the FULL TIME MANAGER there as you have a lovely kind way with your customers and staff and beautiful big bright smile…Thank you once again the night was an absolute success cause of you and your bar staff..BEST WISHES JADE XX

Was my first visit to the Railway with my friends. Had a wonderful time. Its always lovely to go to a pub where the staff are so friendly and you can see that they're having a good time too. although busy, we never had to wait long to be served. Food looked great, so will be back with the family to try out the sunday roasts! Manager was really welcoming too. Thanks for a great night.

Solid spot for drinks, large yet cozy. Nice suntrap of a patio up on the roof. The food is good as well, and I'd have rated higher if they didn't frequently run out of some of the more popular food items on the menu. Think our first 3 choices were all out the last time we went. They even had to have a discussion with the chef about chicken breast, finally deciding to use a slightly different cut of chicken for my dish. Also, went here and had a good time watching the Euros last summer as they have plenty of TVs, but seems like they keep them off even on the weekends when there is plenty of sport on. So don't count on it for watching football/rugby even 6 nations.

Came to pub yesterday for a drink and something to eat. The pub was in utter chaos with two alarms sounding simultaneously both very loudOne was clearly the fire alarm and each time it went off the staff seemed to look at each other and not really do anythingWe ordered 3 sandwiches and 3 drinks (2 soft one bottle cider) for the grand total of £36 🙄 my colleague ? Price at there was a deal on the board outside and the young lady ( presumed the manager) put him right in his place pointing to minute writing on the paper menu that his drink wasn’t included in the deal!The young chap who served us was put in his place also by another barman who was not friendlyIndeed the young chap was the only person who showed any kind of customer care!!NOT A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE!Even though we work 2 minutes away would not returnSandwiches - chicken and bacon dry and bland !

A decent but far from great pub next to Blackheath Station. A few craft beers but very little real ale when we were there.Edit following your response: thanks for the reply. When we were there, there was only one ale available (Doom Bar was off) and that ale ran out before 9pm, hence my comment.

Recent refurb? Well not been here in sometime, place has a cooling vibe, beer & wine selection seemed good. Food looked ok spying on another table... Will pop back again soon for a better review. But sure. This pub and the crown are really the best in Blackheath village imo.

Great location, just a few meters from Blackheath station. Everybody who works there is so friendly, kind and warm. Very dog friendly, they absolutely love dogs in here. The food was amazing! Very tasty indeed. Lots of drink options.

Visited the railway once again. This is one of my favourite pubs so took some friends there. We all had a fabulous time. Place was buzzing as usual. Staff were their usual friendly, happy selves and made for great night. My group all said they loved the place and will definitely be back again. Thanks to ashley and his team for a fabulous night.

Had the best weekend here. As you can see from the pic the burgers are amazing. We sat in the garden during the day then came back later in the evening for the live band who were playing all soul and funk. The singer got the crowd going so well and was really interactive. It was good to see a crowd enjoying life the way we did pre covid. Great atmosphere and fun team behind the bar.

What a great place for a Sunday roast! Massive portions and great food. They are also really dog friendly our puppy Poppy and her friend Dotty had a great time - they had a roast too!
