The Rosemary in Lewisham

Visited The Rosemary without knowing what it was, we were walking by and decided to have lunch. The space is unique with a plant facade that makes it seem quite beautiful on the outside. The inside though in my eyes felt more like a combination of an old pub and a ceramics shops.You had ceramics displayed everywhere with price tags and all. Now I'm sure that it's a form of art and a lot goes into making it but it's not necessarily thr best decor for a restaurant.Now to the important bit. I have never had Hungarian food and this might be how it is and that's OK but of what I tasted nothing was seasoned properly, no intensity at all was found in any dish. Even the goulash was bland and very watery. Again I am no expert in that particular cuisine but for my taste everything could have done with more salt or seasoning in general.Also.for what was on offer at those prices you can definitely do better.

The food was authentic and tasty I went with my non Hungarian friends and they all loved it. Good selection of wine, great atmosphere and friendly service we're definitely going back

We booked in for a special live event, Hungarian folk music. We had a great time.The restaurant has a very homey, relaxed atmosphere. The food is good, traditional Hungarian food and the service is good too.We'll be back soon. Thanks.

Couldn't recommend this more! The food was delicious, I recommend the goulash - it's heaven in a bowl. What blew me away was how lovingly the restaurant is decorated. So much care and attention put into every item in that room.Moreover all the plates, tableware and multitude of stunning ceramics you see inside were made by the owner who also gives lessons!A must go for a foodie or a fan of beautiful handmade ceramics!

Amazing even for VEGANS!! Service is very polite, friendly and quick. Atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, a bit homely. Food is served piping hot and nicely platted - and all 3 courses were really tasty!I particularly loved the fact that the vegan options are clearly marked on the menu and that the guys were very accommodating.

The atmosphere was lovely, went on a night where there was live music and some dancing as well. It got everyone's spirits raised as the band was getting in to the groove of traditional Hungarian songsThe staff were friendly and made sure we were seen to.The food was delicious, I've never had rice seasoned this well and the salmon was flake and delicate. I was pleasantly surprised by the chestnut pure, both in terms of presentation and the taste is indescribableWould definitely come back here as the prices were more than reasonable and I felt welcome ☺️

Went to it with a Hungarian friend!The food was absolutely delicious, nice portions, it reminded me of homemade food!The place was not small at all but it was very cosy, simple yet beautifully decorated!Definitely recommend anyone to go and try it!

Food: Fantastic flavour and a decent selection all round. Had the gypsy roast as my main, but managed to sample the beef and dumplings off friends plates, all top nosh! No expert on Hungarian food here, but it tasted good to me and our tableAtmosphere: The restaurant has a lovely rustic feel to it, with dim lighting and wooden beams throughout. The best bit was the plant (singular) seemingly growing everywhere!Staff: Extremely helpful and friendly. Asked for their choice of orange wine and it was superb. They were attenuative but not overbearing.Overall we had a great meal, with three courses, two bottles of wine and a cocktail each costing just over 50 per person total

The ratatouille is terrible. It is basically onion and pepper that light cooked - steamed or sautéed and that it. We've added egg to it which was just wrong cooked as scrambled that turned out to overcooked and turned as a result. Stuffed cabbage leaves was a bit better, but nothing to shout about. Overall we felt it was overpriced.

The food was not fresh, and I’m not talking just about 2-3 days old. One toilet is not enough if the food is not fresh. The size of the portions for this money it’s too small, but was enough to eat with this taste. I was expecting more from the place. It wasn't a good experience. The restaurant itself is cozy, nicely decorated and clean. Only that's why I give it 2 star.
