Absolutely love this restaurant! The most authentic Thai food in the area. Lunch menu is a great deal and often use their takeaway service. Friendly staff and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend.

Beautifully fresh flavoursome Thai food. Cute little restaurant that gives a cosy vibe. Polite friendly staff and the place is very covid safe.I ordered the Pad See Mai, Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao (my favourite) and Tom kha gai (unusually nutty but really lovely!) for takeaway. Will definitely order again! 🙂The only thing is was that there were only 3 prawns in the Tom Yum soup when ordered takeaway, could have more in for your £!

Lovely little restaurant, very nice food very reasonably priced. Great service

Went there on a weekend, tried the lunchtime deal which was being served until 3pm. The portions were a bit small and the taste could be improved but the staff were a stickler for adhering to Covid regulations. Both me and my husband had to check in separately with the app while the staff watched. Also a selfish family with a toddler, let their toddler play with chips which ended up with chips all over the floor. The staff cleaned it up promptly.

Food is lovely. We were sitting outside so got to hear some life singing 🎶 too. Small places but reasonably priced

We eat here at least twice a week for our lunch break. Ban Yai is a great restaurant with a whole host of tasty Thai dishes to choose from. The team is also lovely and we couldn’t ask for better hospitality every time we visit.

My partner and I went to this restaurant for the first time and loved it a lot. We had chicken satay and vegetable spring rolls for starters, egg fried rice, prawn stir fry, and a chicken curry for main. All good and tasty, reasonable price, waiting staff all very polite and all wearing face covering when they approach the table. We will definitely attend again soon.

Decided to try Ban Yai Thai today for lunch as part of the Eat out to help out scheme. It was warm and I sat outside, it was fairly busy with other diners ( & quite a few flies outside as well). I ordered Chicken Satay £5.75 for starters and Egg Fried Rice (£3.25) and Pad Met Mamuang (£8.45) a stir fry with Chicken, cashew nuts etc in an Oyster sauce. All the food was piping hot and tasty, the service was a little slow but but okay. I felt that the portion sizes were small and if I had of paid full price I would have been a little disappointed (there was certainly not enough chicken in the Pad Met Mamuang). Also, the quality of the chicken seemed poor (typical kind of chicken used in a cheap Chinese takeaway) and again I would expect better for the price. Sitting outside there were no condiments available on the tables, the rice was quite dry and could have done with some extra sauce, maybe soy or similar. The waitress never asked how my meal was or whether I wanted a desert, she didn't ask if I wanted another drink (I'd ordered a coke which was given to me as an un-opened can of Coke with a small glass. No offer of ice. I would have thought many new customers are going to try this place out during this scheme, it's in the very picturesque setting of Merton Abbey Mills but you would think they would be trying really hard to impress and encourage diners to return - that was not the case today - I really hope they try a little harder in future.
