Had Fish and chips delivered several times and it was lovely.... Decided to have burgers last night and having had to call the restaurant after waiting an hour and a half, the totally wrong order was delivered.... Then after a further 40 minute wait our burgers arrived with a very grumpy little man and all three were burnt! Will not be doing that again..... VERY Poor!

My love for serenes started from the 1 pound serene wraps i used to pile down me while i was at school on my lunch breaks, over the years the menu has grown and the food quality has got even better and now has me spending money till my heart is content definitely a great place for a takeaway for the family or even a quick bite to eat .Huge pillar of the community i hope you keep on striving , only reason i gave this 4/5 is because i found a small hair on my cod and chips but this is definitely my first childhood sweet heart.Must try in G.H area

We are regular customers .Unfortunately the meal we had on Bank holiday Monday was not up to the usual standard. The French fries were cold, fish dry and tasteless, Doner meat burnt ,the falafel were dry and a lot smaller than previousally and the container of curry sauce was only halved filled. It seems that since the price increase the quality of food is not as good

I absolutely LOVE this place!! Their food is always perfect and consistent - its not hit and miss unlike some restaurants. They always maintain the same high standard, and whenever you go inside they always greet you with a smile and say hello, which sounds like common courtesy but a lot of places lack this these days. Its the little things which as a customer you really appreciate. The food is always 100% spot on and especially today after a very long day we went in and had a mix kebab 4 which we absolutely loved.. the meat is flavoured so perfectly, it is not overly salty unlike a lot of other Turkish restaurants near by, their sauces are amazing and you can tell they are home made and I literally cannot fault a single thing. The prices are so reasonable too, I almost forgot my mother in laws chips but the guy was so kind and reminded me! Thank you for being so amazing guys keep up the good work :)!! We will be back soon!

I’ve been a loyal customer at Serene for over 15 years. Why? Because it’s one of the best – if not the best – fish and chips in London, and I’m comparing with places like Sutton & Sons in Stoke Newington and Henley’s of Wivenhoe. For years I’ve gotten takeaway regularly and eaten in around once a week… But following visiting after the recent rennovation, which I was very excited to check out, I don’t think I will be eating in again, which is a real shame.Previously – see the numerous photos from past reviewers – the place had character, but also it was functional and pleasant to sit in. Not only did it feel like a classic chippy, but it was physically fine in every way. The chairs were comfortable to sit on and the tables were the right height. The place was cosy and the temperature was warm. The Billingsgate Fish Market painting was iconic. The decor and branding was consistent with a historic family run fish and chip restaurant…The brand new interior looks alright at first glance, and of course taste in design is subjective. But I think objectively there are a number of issues that are impossible to overlook. The tables are a lot narrower, making it nearly impossible to eat face to face if you’re a party of two or more. They are now metal instead of wood, which would be fine except that they are so cold you cannot rest your hand or arms on them for the cold shock you get. That is made worse by the main door that now does not close and invites blistering a draught hat chills the whole place (staff are aware of this I think). Crucially this freezes not only customers but makes food go cold much much faster. Together with the cold table this makes eating harder and generally unpleasant.Chairs are replaced with benches and gone are the dedicated back rests; the wall doubles as back rests on one side but again, they are physically very cold and uncomfortable. The benches themselves are sharp and dig in to your thighs, where previously they were rounded off. They’re also a little too low, making the overall ergonomics awful.Less of an issue is the lighting. It does look fancy but it’s a mish mash of cold, warm and neutral colours: the neutral lights (above the kitchen/serving area) is actually quite nice. But the bluer lights above customer area – again this is subjective – is not great, though the bulb filament LED bulbs do a little to take the edge of the blueness. I think it would be better if they stuck to neutral all around. The overall look and feel is very monolithic, cold and uninviting (except the kitchen). The colours of grey stone and blue marble-look panels are key contributor to this. Previously the hue of the wood and white tiles together worked to create a more inviting space, and was both physically and aesthetically warmer.Thematically, the fish related branding is totally absent. Gone is that iconic Billingsgate fish market painting. At least the chain link feature that separates waiting area and seating area is quite interesting and helps make the space look bigger, but like the rest of the renovation, I’m not sure whether that was necessary. The Grand Serene logo, which features a fish, remains the same, but feels out of place as it no longer resembles a traditional fish and chip restaurant.Positives? The toilet is a little better and the flooring is a lot better. And If the new look has improved kitchen for the staff, which I would hope it has, then fair enough in that regard. But I can only comment from a customer experience. I wanted to love it, but am a little heartbroken given how big Serene is in my life.I’ve given this review 5 stars because I don’t think it deserves anything less based on the tremendous track record of great food, hard working staff and the fact that hopefully the issues I’ve raised might still be resolvable in the near, or perhaps distant, future.

Fantastic Kebabs and Salad, faultless kebab and really fresh salads. Spotlessly clean, super helpful and friendly staff, if I lived closer I would be the size of a house in a month, excellent

This is the best F&C shop in East London- i live in Newham and this to me is the nearest fish and chips shop and its fresh and tasty. You will have to wait about 10min but the wait is worth it.The chilli sauce if you order it make sure you ask for it to be warmed up- its nice over chips etc. .. The staff are very helpful and friendly. 5A**** service see images of sauce on chips etc.I did ask if they deliver to Newham but they said it was out of the area. Lovely place hope they do deliveries soon to Newham area. Thank you

I have been a loyal customer at Serene’s for just over 25 years. The one thing you can count and rely on is Serene’s unique flavours, the freshness of all food and the generous portion sizes that are more than reasonably priced. They have a very impressive menu and have something for every foodie. The management and staff provide outstanding customer service and maintain very high standards when food is being prepared and served whether it is take away or sit in (when permitted due to COVID).Serene’s simply is the best of the best, so if you haven’t already make your way to Serene’s and enjoy.

We had enjoyed dining in at Serene Fish & Chips. The food was exceptional. Everything was fresh. They serve the best fish and chips. The cod fish batter is so light and crispy. The lamb shish was also very tasty. The staff were friendly. We will definitely go back again.
