La Cloche at The Lion in Richmond upon Thames

A very nice large pub hidden away in a side street. The staff were super friendly and the food well cooked but the drinks were a little toppy

Wow, what a chilled sunny vibe. Great music, great beer and a brilliant waiter called Sam. Could stay all day.

I’m not usually one to complain, but i feel quite strongly about my experience at The Lion.It took 2.5 hours to have a one course meal and we had music from the speakers on one side of us and (different) live music on the other, which was pretty unpleasant.Hoping for a Sunday roast, we were only given the Sunday/mother’s day menu once they came to take our order and we asked if there were any specials. When the food arrived, we had to wait several minutes to get cutlery. The food was not good. The lentil and bean stew did not taste of much and the chicken burger was tough and very salty. To be fair, the Jack fruit tacos were apparently very good.After the meal our water glasses were cleared away with our plates. Not a big deal but a little annoying as the kids hadn’t finished and wanted more to drink.We then said we didn’t want dessert and expected the bill to follow. After waiting 20 mins we requested the bill, which came about 10 mins after that. The pub was not busy at this point. Then the card machine didn’t work.And for the pleasure of all this they added a 12.5% service charge to the bill, which I’m kicking myself for paying. I haven’t experienced service this bad for a very long time.A real shame as this is a big, nice looking pub in a good location. It could be so much more if they made an effort and trained their staff better.

Brilliant!Matt puts heart and soul in and creates a fantastic vibe, top man. The lion seems to get better and better! So many great things to get involved with please check out the events list.The service is second to none each time we visit. Finn is outstanding, such a helpful thoughtful chap who goes above and beyond.Aaron and Sam too. I had to mention each because they all take things to the next level.We felt spoilt and everything is always done to make us comfortable and happy. Thank you. all

Slightly disappointed with the Sunday Roast today. When the Roast came, it wasn't very hot and service was abit hit and miss on what wasn't a very busy pub. Manager was very apologetic and gave us money off at the end, but a disappointing experience.

New years eve for a gathering of 10. Cannot fault my experience. Friendly host, lovely canapés and overall superb service at Teddington's best pub. Thank you. Good luck for the new year.

Really disappointed! The Sunday toast was terrible with soggy watery vegetables and chewy Yorkshire pudding.....for £19!Staff was rudeit's a real shame as we went there before and alway found this pub with nice food and with very friendly staff

Properly delicious and we can’t wait to go back to try everything else on the menu. Staff were brilliant too, quick and attentive.

Great food and menu, excellent drinks selection (one of the best I've seen in a long time!) and really friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

We had a fab roast here today! They were really accommodating for the children and the roast was amazing, really tasty, lots of food and they are doing 25% off in sept which was a bonus. Really impressed that the chef came out to discuss out kids' food intolerance and worked around it to give a safe and yummy meal for them. Highly recommend!
