Visited this pub yesterday, how it has gone downhill recently. A lot of cask ales on, mostly IPA's or strange ingredients beers. Two bitters on, so I tried the regular Harveys Best. It did not clear and looked very hazy so I brought it back to the bar. The barman told me it was perfectly clear, despite myself and my wife showing him it was very cloudy. He reluctantly offered me something else, if I admitted the beer was not cloudy. I mentioned I had just come from The Rifleman pub around the corner and had had a perfect clear crisp pint of Harveys Best. He got quite angry and rude, he said he was in charge of the cellar and the beer was fine. He eventually gave me a pint of Sambrooks Pumphouse which was also cloudy with bits in. We left. This pub used to have excellent cask beer, now they simply are not looking after it. They should look at their sister pub The Express Tavern and see how they keep their beer in excellent condition and perhaps teach their staff not to be so rude and angry towards their customers

Always a brilliant pub to visit for special events. The food is great and I cannot complain about the drinks selection! New beers & ciders weekly... What more do you want??? I highly recommended taking a trip here. I promise you won't regret it!

It's a beautiful pub, we loved the fireplace and the decor. However it's a bit pricey.

Can't praise this establishment enough. Lovely building, brilliant and friendly staff and the atmosphere and entertainment layed on for the England v Ireland game was second to none. Actually regretted leaving to go to the stadium 🤣

More cask ale than you could ever need, all kept in good condition. Selection of Big Smoke Brewery beers alongside guests from far and wide. Heritage interior, garden to front and rear. Full food menu available - the Sunday roasts looked huge, and were hugely popular!

A real old style pub, with open fire. Large selection of drinks. Ample portions on the food and at a reasonable cost. The staff were very friendly, courteous and went out of there way to help. An altogether pleasant experience. Would highly recommend. Thank you.

Visited a year ago and the experience was 5 star. Sadly things have gone downhill somewhat. We had reserved a table for 2pm only to arrive and be told it wasn't ready so we spent the next 15 minutes standing around waiting. Only after nudging the manager were we finally tutted at and shown to our table. Another 10 minutes passes and we are finally given some menus, only after asking. We then decided what to eat and headed to the bar to order. The manager (Nadia?) Took our order and advised one of the items wasn't available. When we pointed out it would be been good to know what wasn't available before ordering she became quite defensive/aggressive. She advised it was a pub, we shouldn't expect table service. We pointed out we didn't but they should have told us what wasn't available when they gave us the menus. Nadia then blamed the 17 and 18 year old servers, instead of offering an apology. Shame on her!We were a party of 6 and as my friend went to check with his wife Nadia told everyone at the bar the reason they weren't bring served was because 'he' had to check with his wife what she wanted to eat. She was rude, aggressive and needs a real attitude adjustment. At that point I told her to cancel the order and we left. We went instead to the Royal Oak where went spent our £300 and had a really good Sunday lunch served by friendly and welcoming staff . Won't be back.

Came here 18 Dec for a Christmas lunch with friends. Excellent portions for food and friendly, attentive staff. Would recommend, can get busy on rugby days, so pre book. Keep up the good work!

We reserved a table for lunch with friends and on arrival I realised I had forgotten to mention I had just given birth and my friend who was joining was heavily pregnant. The table that had be allocated was a bar table with stools. The lady who was on duty went above and beyond her job role and was really helpful in finding us a new table, even thoughts Sunday and was fully booked! She was so friendly and made our first outing with out baby really enjoyable. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

This decent pub keeps a wide range of beers and ciders. It serves good affordable grub and has a good bunch of friendly staff..
