One of my best mates university watering holes, so he invited me to join him on a nostalgia trip.Decent pin especially for students, it's only a short trip from the hospital/university and practically next door to borough tube station.Drinks are fairly priced, and everyone we met there was friendly, chatty, and having a good time. Rounded off our night nicely before we headed home.

X Incredibly rude bouncer at the door. I didn’t have my student ID card with me but I showed my student acceptance letter and passport and said that wasn’t enough proof for entry. However he let in plenty of other students just because “they’ve been there before” and they didn’t have to show their student I.D or anything. So if the rule is “have your student ID or you can’t come in”, you’d assume it would apply fairly to all students (which it didn’t).The other bouncer was very kind and understanding but the one in charge was unnecessarily rude and couldn’t justify why my student acceptance letter and passport wasn’t enough. If it was against the pub policy and he had said that in a kind calm manner I would’ve understood. Or perhaps showed an ounce of empathy ??But instead he was incredibly hostile for no real reason. Also he didn’t let any of my friends in either and few of them had their valid student IDs??!And once again , no proper justification for that either. Very unprofessional.A straight bully.

Relaxed atmosphere. Good drinks. You can also order food from a nearby place.

Can't beat the prices in the area, that's for sure. The environment depends on the time and day that you show up. It can vary between quiet to crowded and maniac, but I'd still recommend a visit. It's a student pub, you got affordable alcohol that you know and the service is friendly. One of the few places you can request any drink and they'll make it if they have the stuff, also snakebites are on the menu

It has pigeon boxes for jackets and they never check the tickets and lost my expensive jacket! by the end of the night the bar staff will be more drunk than the people and they will ask you to leave if you question them. even if you try to call the hostel has the bar's phone and the receptionist will ask you to come to talk to the bar tenders it is like you live in it not the other side of the city!

Amazing place! The manager Pete is the best barman I've ever seen in my life! And Emilie (the smaller one) is absolutely incredible too. Dave the new guy is OK. Needs a shave.

This isn't a bar, it's not a hostel, it's an icon, a temple, a way of life. When someone asks you to go to a bar you contemplate the cost, the benefit, and ultimately make a decision. When someone asks you "DC?" The decision has been made.Dan the manager is a legend, it's usually too stuffed but it's always stuffed full of absolutely brilliant, beautiful, and fun people, student priced drinks, terribly brilliant music (Mr bright side etc.) and wicked vibes, this is probably the best bar in London for anyone aged between 19-23.

Decent little pub to be honest with you. Always showing the footie. Great prices for students and you can get yourself a lovely pizza for a reasonable sum. Not much seating though so get ready for a lengthy stand if you're going down to watch the big soccer am fixture
