Dulwich Picture Gallery Cafe in Southwark

First time I’ve been here as was visiting the gallery. Was very impressed with the quality of food and coffee and the service was outstanding. There’s a lot of places that overcharge for mediocre food but this isn’t one of them - the chorizo sandwich was great and every one of the people working there seemed happy to be there and knew what they were doing! I’ll be back, thank you.

A great hidden gem of a coffee shop in the heart of Dulwich. It is set in the gardens of the Dulwich Art Gallery and linked by a walkway. You do not have to go into the gallery to visit the coffee shop. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The food is good with a small menu.

Went on a busy lunchtime and staff were so nice and helpful, moving things around to accommodate us and serving us with the delicious food that I was expecting, being familiar with the Wandsworth Common (original) branch. Yummy!!

Gail’s was closed so popped to the Gallery Cafe. I now realise why I always ignored it. It’s not terrible by any measure but the coffee was bland as was the cake. However top marks for the setting and atmosphere. It’s just lovely.So I would get your coffee at Gail’s and enjoy it in the Gallery gardens.

Went for a few hot drinks at the cafe today with their takeaway service during lockdown. The staff were very friendly especially the lady with long blonde hair, she recommended the carrot cake to me and it was delicious! Had the best latte I’ve had in a while and it was lovely to be out of the house and be able to sit under the umbrellas in the park 😊 Will definitely be back again!

Superb customer service from the young lady on the till. A real asset, I always love getting my coffee when she's on. I got a mocha today and it was delicious!

Usually the food is lovely - imaginative and unusual salads, and some tasty mains, but not today. The seasonal salad was tasteless pasta, (no mention of it being pasta on the menu), plain butter beans with sweetcorn thrown in and a tossed mixed leaf side portion. Every time I glanced to the left, my eyes were greeted by a filthy wall and door. Very disappointed.

A nice location and good coffee and cake. However they lack the basic processes or staff numbers to cope when its busy. It isn’t a big place but as soon as it’s full service slows to a crawl. The staff individually are friendly, but either there are too few of them or they just don’t have the processes and systems to cope.
