Very poor service when visited in Dec. Kept waiting at least 30 mins to take orders, a not too subtle ploy to get us to order booze (staff were available to do that). Food nothing special and overpriced. It's a shame as Franklin's used to be much better, will be reluctant to go again although I live locally.

Had Dinner for 4 people Monday 17th Jan. Ordered 4 mains approx 5pm. Waited 40 mins till arrived. No one else eating at time. Sirloin Steak served Cold. Told waitress after got her attention. Took it back only to be reheated. The came back tuff as old boots.. over priced food. Would not recommend or return. £23 for 1 Steak. £8 for 2 sides of cabbage & new pots which would of cost no more than £1. Othe dish served partridge. Which our friend was ill all night after eating.

This is a great neighbourhood restaurant with a fantastic wine list and some great food. The atmosphere inside is really warm, buzzy and local. The waiting team were also excellent. The selection of wines and their pricing was excellent, some very good value to be had. The menu was seasonal and had a good selection of items. The food was very good, but if anything, a little cold when served.Otherwise, a great evening with friends, and I look forward to returning.

I love Franklin's. The restaurant inside makes you feel warm and cozy. The food is tasty and seasonal with perfect portion sizes. The staff are what make it though with smiles from the kitchen and waiters alike. Such a great welcome.

Very disappointing. The beef was rare and the meal very cool. The staff heated the meat but it spoilt the experience. My son and daughter in law took me for a treat but they can both do a better roast beef dinner than that

Went for my partner's early birthday dinner and I had 6 oyster (I love oyster) and their oysters were just absolute banging!! My partner had this Vegetarian meal and he said it was really good too!! The vibes in the restaurant was really nice. The staffs were great too! Loved it!!

The most delicious, fresh food. Slightly pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. Great service and good vegetarian option available.

Being a local lad, I've always been curious about Franklin's but had never sampled their cuisine. Sadly I now know that this is simply a small pub with awfully large delusions of grandeur.Small tables and uncomfortable chairs were crammed into a small, crowded, dingy, dimly lit room; it's never good when you can't see the menu let alone what you're eating - we had to resort to the torch setting on our smartphones to see the menu clearly. One positive note, our waitress was truly delightful and friendly. The food... well, that hit a bum note as it was, in short: extraordinarily expensive, poorly seasoned and badly cooked.Franklin's style of cuisine is best described as uber plain English. The meals were severely underseasoned. The tiny, sirloin steak we ordered was burnt to a crisp - indicating a lack of capability in the kitchen (for the price charged though, you'd think they'd get someone in who's capable of cooking a steak); the bland Caribbean inspired cocktail lacked flavour and potency and my goodness, the watery pea soup was nothing but a sad, mirthless joke - if you would like to look at the photos you'll see! Shocking!: would you serve up that 'slop'?Apart from the cocktail, we drank water and (wisely) skipped dessert. So, 1 cocktail, 2 starters, 2 mains - £100; For two people, this goes down as a dreary, expensive experience - one that we'd wish we could erase. My advice? Avoid avoid avoid.
