Lederhosen-clad staff serve Bavarian beers at wooden benches in a beer hall with a live oompah band.

A nice place to enjoy some authentic German food and beers at reasonable prices. But food and beer are the only German elements to be seen, except a picture with some Bavarians on the wall. Read something that about Lederhosn and Umpa Band but no such things. Even the background music was some English playlist which is not a problem but just not what I had expected from the description of this place

1 Critism. Make it easier to book a Table. Really Friendly, Helpful and Polite Staff. Not a bad word about any of them. Nice Vibe. Nice food. Really enjoyed it. Definitely coming back again.

My partner loves this hidden spot in the city! He had a huge beer whilst I enjoyed Prosecco🍺 🥂 The vegan schnitzel was so good too! Huge portion which we shared. Great that I was able to charge my phone there too, thank you very much!😊

I love this place. It's just amazing. Best German beer and food experience you can get in the city without looking your wallet. It's spacious and it's busy. Beer is always fresh and the taste of food is amazing. Service is not always very happy but it's understandable with all the crowd at all the time. Highly recommend.

I have never had a bad experience at this bar! The staff are amazing, security on the door is always on top form. And the selection of beers they have are incredible!! I'm yet to eat there, but i have heard great things about the kitchen.

The food was good and big portions. Definitely pay them a visit when the band is playing, it is a great atmosphere.

It's a beer hall, which is good fun but nothing remarkable in itself, *however* they do a great schnitzel if you happen to be hankering for one then, which I was!

I might have been too sober to fully appreciate the place, or maybe it was a the rocky start to the evening.Service was awful - staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing. We saw that the ordering system was at the till but we had no information about how it all worked. After a long wait to order food, I was asked for my table number, which of course I didn't know, so I popped out to check and when I returned to the bar I was rudely shouted at by the manager for doing so (of course, how dare I do that?)! My server had abandoned my friend who held the spot and we were ignored for another 10 minutes, amazing as I was right at the bar with money out ready to pay. I finally managed to flag someone else down to start my order again. The food came out pretty swiftly though and definitely no complaints about the portion size as we couldn't finish it. For a German-inspired place, I must say I was impressed at the clearly labelled vegan options on the menu. The atmosphere was lively but the music was quite outdated and downbeat (think, tracks from local daytime radio.... in 2012... but if that's really your jam, then you'll love it!). The sound system, which sounded like a very small cheap speaker, underserved the vast size of the hall but was eventually made up for by the brass band who came out and played very well. (I still would question their choice of songs though).Overall, I think Katzenjammers must thrive from people being already wasted at the time of arrival, (whom must have been the reviewers here who have given it a full 5 stars). For me though, it needs a lot of work in order to entice me back in.

Whether you like this place will depend on how much you like German beer and Bratwurst… luckily I like both in big quantities!!Loads of great beers to try and I mean loads!! Fun food menu… doesn’t try to pretend to be anything too swanky… good choice of sausage, loads of cabbage and sauerkraut and generous with the chips… what more could you want!!If you grab it on a busy night… atmosphere is brilliant too!! A little local fave of mine!

It's always fun to go somewhere to enjoy a wide selection of beer and food and drink from a stein! But the atmosphere was somewhat ruined for us as it was so incredibly loud - we weren't sure why the volume was so high but we couldn't hear each other even seated next to one another and shouting at full volume. It was a shame as otherwise the food, drinks and service were great.
