The Michelin guide says that to be two stars requires excellent cooking, making a visit worth a detour. Well on a recent trip to London I went more than an hour out of my way to visit Mei Mei and I'm happy to say it was well worth it. Just like the hawker markets in Singapore the food is served humbly, best eaten at the stall front bench along your fellow diners. The food is fresh and vibrant.

I'm an absolute fan of Hainanese chicken so I've tried a lot of hainanese chicken from a lot of restaurants. I like the rice to be oily but not too oily and coated with chicken taste; the chicken I'm not as fussy with and as long as its not dry, I'm fine with it; sauce wise, I normally only use the ginger and spring onion oil.At mei mei, their hainanese chicken suited my taste soo much! Its literally everything I've wanted and is definitely THE best hainanese dish I've had. The dish came with a sweet chili suace and sweet thick soy sauce on the side which I didn't use. On the chicken, they put minced ginger in oil which was really nice. The rice was definitely the star of the show! It was juicy (yes, the rice was juicy, not soggy but juicy), oily but not too oily and very aromatic. The chicken was tender and not dry. Just loved everything about this dish! They do put coriander and a cold side salad in the dish if you want some veg.I ordered the chicken set which comes with the soup and some pickled vegetables in the dish. The soup was decent, it was a nicely boiled chicken soup but nothing too WOW about it. The pickles were just a bit weird in my opinion, they had pickled pineapples and cauliflower and it just wasn't the best combination with the hainanese chicken. I ended up even ordering a portion to take back home because it was that nice!If you want the hainanese chicken dish, Id recommend just getting the dish on it's own unless you really want to try the soup.

I was visiting London Bridge yesterday and decided to have lunch at @meimeilondon 💕 The meal of my choosing was Cantonese Roast Duck Rice 🤤Ok. The taste, was so so good! Absolutely delicious! But the pieces of duck I got, was more than half made up of duck fat and bones... I think only one piecs of the five had proper duck meat on it 😭 I was left so sad really! I mean the taste was heavenly, but they need to check the pieces they are serving 🙏Overall, the portion was small and I was still feeling quite hungry after having it! 🧐 A bigger portion of rice would definitely improve the situation! 😉 Cucumber pieces were refreshing and palate cleansing 🥒 So sum up, the taste is excellent, but the meat pieces and portions need to be looked at 🤓 Also, I feel like the duck could/should be served boneless, as I was really struggling with it 🤔🤷‍♀️Bon appetit! 💕

We tried the Nasi Lemak and Chicken Rice. Nasi was quite a unique dish I haven't seen anywhere else and tasted really nice too. Maybe it lacked some sort of sauce though as it was quite crunchy and concentrated. Chicken rice was good too, the taste is a lot more familiar. The prices are quite high for a street food stall, our two dishes with no drinks were a total of £20. Overall nice food, but not sure worth the higher price

My friend and I ordered the Nasi Lemak and Fried Chicken Rice today. The anchovies in the Nasi Lemak is towards the hard side (difficult to chew). Sambal sauce has a strong chilli taste (might be from the dry chilli). It will taste better by adding a little sugar or shallots. (It’s just our preference). 🤣The Fried Chicken Rice comes with Hanainese Chicken Rice and it hits home. The chilli sauce is not bad though I personally prefer it a little more spicy. The fried chickens were served warm (not hot) so we were a little disappointed with that. Overall, I’m satisfied with the food. The speed of service is good. Portion size is acceptable.

I tried Hainanese chicken, it is very delicate, the portion is perfect for me. It may not be enough some people. I wish they can be more generous on the chicken broth, coz i love the soup very much. The price is reasonable as it is located a Borough market - tourist spot.

This place was absolutely delicious. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The flavors are amazing- full of depth and perfectly warm, even on a colder night. We had the Sayur Lemak, which was perfection, the mixed satay, and the Stir Fried Greens. The Sayur Lemak is a delicious tofu curry with lots of well seasoned vegetables. The satay has a lot of flavor and the sauce was yummy. The stir fried greens are perfectly seasoned with garlic and reminds me of how my own family makes the same choy. This reminded us of home and warmed up our stomachs and our hearts. Highly recommend coming if you can!!!

Singapore Chilli Crab. What is there not to like? I’m not 100% sure if the crab is the same type here in UK then what is used in Singapore but I did find it’s shells a bit harder to crack. But the taste was absolutely genuine, authentic so well done Elizabeth. Satay was good. Shall be returning to taste the rest of the menu especially the Hainanese chicken rice and the beef rendang . The only point lost, wine by the glass should be a bit more than the 125ml for the price I thought.

Pros:- Food was very good- Clean kitchenCons:- Staff looked moody. Not rude but not nice- Some of the dishes were on the expensive side of the price range. For example, the chicken rice was £8.5 but the “set” was £12.5 and all you got extra were pickled cabbage and a small cup of soup. 2 small Kaya toast (see photo) was £5Overall I would go back but probably not as often as I would like to
