Pizza Express - Bankside in Southwark

Stopped here for lunch after a conference, good food nice friendly staff and great views of the river.

We had a terrible experience here today; so awful that I felt I had to share my review. The service was absolutely, shockingly awful. I sat down with my 6- and 4-year-old children. 20 minutes later we hadn't even ordered drinks. I finally managed to grab someone's attention and asked if I could order, only to be told that she couldn't take my order as she was a runner. After a few more minutes we finally managed to order food. Over an hour later, we still hadn't received our food. I spoke to the manager, who then checked on our food - I could hear him ask the kitchen to cook it urgently (where had our order gone???) Some time later, it finally arrived. The whole ordeal took over 2 hrs with my children becoming more and more miserable, while everyone around us was eating and tables were being turned over constantly. No apology, no explanation. Absolutely ridiculous, there's no way I would ever return.

Love that they have so many vegan and gluten-free options. Dough balls were excellent. Can’t wait for my pizza. Thanks for the great customer service Denise.

Great place for a dinner date. Great views, food was very tasty and the service was polite, attentive and fast. Szidonia provided us with great service and recommended brownie for the dessert which was delicious. Will definitely return.

This is a stylishly decorated restaurant with the added benefit of amazing River Thames views. It is very spacious upstairs and downstairs with limited outdoor seating. On the ground floor, there is a option of a private(ish) room which is sectioned off by a heavy curtain. It has a well stocked bar and it is very close to Southwark Bridge.

Good pizza with good choice. Upstairs seating is less cramped and less noisy than downstairs. Reasonably priced better even better if you can get a voucher code. Great location, close to Southwark Bridge, the River and Globe Theatre.

Been to many pizza express restaurants and will rate the visit here as excellent. Visited during October term time, with my daughter, a friend and her two children.Our server was friendly and knowledgeable of menu. The the first time, (in a long time) all items were available.I ordered the vegan power salad which was packed with different fresh vegetables and couscous. Children had the kids menu, which is always good value and my daughter enjoys. My friend had a chicken topped pizza, which she said was delicious. Kids had 'fruit&veg' rainbow ice-lollies for dessert while my friend and I both had salted carmel & popcorn cheese cake. It was perfect.I would happily return to this pizza express restaurant as the views of the Thames and iconic buildings are amazing. We were sitted downstairs so next visit I would definitely reserve a table upstairs!

Overpriced, small portions, Ive ordered a 10 pounds margarita and got kids size portion, the frozen pizza on the supermarket have a better taste. Not nearly margarita or italian. They handed over the pizza without napkins and herbs/ chilly.

We booked a party of five, maybe a month in advance. Easy to book and we noted the good feedback from others. We visited on 2 October 21, at noon, going to the Globe afterwards.We were welcomed to the restaurant like old friends. Shown to a great table on the first floor, with incredible views out across the Thames.Great service, really efficient, polite and prompt. We ordered 2 salads, three pizzas and drinks. All were excellent quality - the 4 cheese pizza was a stand-out to me, and really good combination of cheeses.All-in-all, really happy with the booking and next time in London will have lunch there.The bill was fine for such location, service and quality.We were all very happy with the level of service and attention.Thank you Pizza Express!
