Really great experience. Came on a busy Saturday from North London to visit a friend. No reservation and still managed to find a table with ease. Food was excellent, enjoyed it more than some of the other restaurants in the surrounding area. Went for the mussels and brownie and friend had the chicken. Conrad was great ! We Had to move inside due to us under predicting the weather outside and he was great to suit.

Booked this hotel as I was attending a wedding at Dulwich College. From the moment we entered until we left all I can say is the staff at this hotel are exceptional. I’m lucky as I had a room on the ground floor so didn’t have to navigate the stairs unlike my friend on the top floor. The rooms are a good size with plenty of refreshments. The shower has a detachable hose, which is a must. The bar menu has a great selection of foods for all dietary requirements. The breakfast menu is small and also has a good choices for all. Nothing is too much trouble for this team. They are able to recommend alcoholic drinks that you would like (Thank You Zane) and will make sure your needs are catered for. I will definitely stay here again

Recovering from Covid. This is such a nice pub. It has all the elements to be fantastic. Yesterday was my 2nd visit in two months. I noticed last time that the service was ambivalent at best and the music was loud.Last night we had dinner here. The food was good for pub food. The service was awful and slow. Our main courses arrived while we were completing our starters. We had no cutlery for the main course. Fortunately we had burgers and fries so we could get by. We waited so long to pay we just got up and paid at bar counter. While we were clearly waiting to pay it appears the manager and one other were standing at a laptop observing the world and not getting involved. A waitress was trying on earrings with a friend rather than attending to customers. It’s clear that Covid has had an impact, but this pub should be able to return to its former standards. We’ll be back soon to see.

Had a great Saturday lunch at this pub, which had a lovely crowd and great atmosphere, Conrad our waiter was extremely helpful when we requested to move as our table due to a breeze from the door. Food was great, particularly the chicken and cheese pie, will be back soon

Had Sunday lunch here today with my husband and two friends. Everything was so disappointing. The beef of the roast was pretty inedible (too thick to cut and too tough to chew). Our friend who had the pie said he thought it was like a school dinner. Our other friend who had the pork belly said it wasn't cooked enough. The veg tasted like it was cooked yesterday. The service was poor - we had to ask for dessert menus but they never came to take our order so we gave up. I have never not paid service before but today I did as it was such a poor lunch. The only good thing was that our drinks orders arrived quite quckly. I've been coming to the Dog for a long time but I definitely won't be rushing back after today. Such a shame.Just wanted to add I was contacted today by Chris who wanted to know more about the details of my complaint. He was really kind and helpful. It's not easy to ring people up and talk to them directly so great customer service here! I will go back as he has assured me they are committed to getting it right.

Had wanted to try this beautiful looking pub for ages…1) arrived and the sign on the door said,’no food being served after 5pm’ - it was 6:302) checked with a member of staff inside and said it was fine there was food and we could sit where we wanted. Hooray. However, the waiter seemed confused: it was a bit like Boris’ ā€˜stay in but don’t stay in, wear and mask but don’t wear a mask’ message with as the waiter was on his way to get us knife and forks, then stops, comes back, then no menus and forgets to take our drink order. He then decided he ā€˜couldn’t work the machine’ and went to get paper - fine, no problem with me. But, In the background I see two members of staff doing a bit of eye rolling and head shaking at this man. Not professional.2) Instead another waitress comes over and takes our order (two soft drinks, 1 small portion of mussels and one chicken with chips).3) food comes reasonably quickly. Partner’s chicken is literally just the chicken: fine he likes meat but I would have expected more for the price.4) then came my mussels. Jesus Christ, what a waste of calories. Tasted like they’d been left in a pan all day: rubbery, tasteless, withered away and the sauce was a strange brown gunk. Not the lovely dip your bread in stewy goodness Id been hoping for. They were barely warm with some shells cold to the touch5) no one comes to do the, ā€˜everything alright with your food’ check. And I sit there with a pretty full plate until my partner finishes.I eventually speak to the manager to explain and she acts kindly and quickly to remove the mussels from the bill.Such a beautiful setting but the food was painfully underwhelming and this lack of quality really, really lets the area down.*Training needed for staff and the quality of food needs improving ASAP.

Very nice looking pub, proper wooden walls and amazing ceilings.Food quality doesn't quite much the prices. I have ordered pork which looked really nice, but for 20Ā£ meal was a bit cheawy.Their back garden looks pretty and modern with heaters. Service was really good and friendly. Overall nice place to go to, if the food would be slightly better I would happily give 5 stars.

A really good stay here. The room exudes quality. The safety aspect is good. Conrad gave good service at breakfast , Johnnie cooked up a full english that ranks very highly up there with the best. The manager at check was great too. Fabulous value for money for London. My tip. Travel out to Dulwich for good quality hospitality. You won’t regret it. Thank you team. I feel refreshed after a busy few days.

Delicious food. Especially loved the calamari with chilli and mango. Staff friendly but we felt let down by the slow service and lack of communication. I appreciate it was a busy Saturday afternoon but it would have been helpful to know that it would take an hour to get our food as we had hungry kids.
