Fantastic place to eat. Waiting staff friendly and prompt. Excellent options on tap, and staff able to make recommendations. A good range of vegan food and amazing for family dinners.

Another wonderful lunch at the California,the food as always was great and as usual extremely nice and helpful staff.Such good value and will be back again soon.Thanks guys for another very enjoyable lunch and making 4 old girls feel so welcome,we do appreciate it!🤣

I visited each day whilst looking after my brother's dog as it's location next to Banstead Common is perfect for a liquid pit stop for thirsty dog walkers. The staff were very helpful in bringing a water bowl out to the garden, and the other customers are friendly giving Gloucester lots of attention. "Dog friendly" should be added to the pub's details. The outside area is huge, with great huts. The real ale was good apart from one visit which accounts for the loss of one star. I look forward to visiting when I'm in the area again.

Fantastic pub, my friends & I love it!!It has become my local since moving to area recently & I have not had a bad meal here!!Well done Kieran (Manager) & Brian (Chef) for such a warm welcome & good food.Especially nice that dogs are welcome.Plenty of parking too.A great atmosphere & next visit is for Sunday Roast.....Well done guys.

Basic pub but good VFM drink & food,especially the Stowford Press Herefordshire Cider.😋All staff were extremely friendly & accommodating,especially the managers who were eating in the restaurant with their polite & well behaved young children.I'm currently incapacitated and using a mobility scooter,and came in drenched due to a horrific downpour.they never made me feel uncomfortable & simply couldn't have been more helpful.

Had some special time with my sister lovely prawn sandwich but sorry to say the..... Oil on the fish chips and onion rings seemed old..... The waitress seemed a new girl no cutlery and not offering sauces the table was dirty...... But still had a OK quality time

Quite popular venue with the locals. Came here for a friend's birthday on a Sunday. There was a significant delay on the food. When it did arrive, it wasn't anything to write home about. Was disappointed especially after the wait. There seemed to be an issue in the kitchen and the staff were clearly frustrated and struggling.

It's a pub restaurant with great food, easy simple stuff. The eating area is lovely too, a mixture of tables with chairs and tables with sofas, so nice n comfy. And, it didn't feel overpriced. We've eaten there 4 or 5 times now. Oh yes...and they're dog friendly.

Much improved with a new manager. The menu could be improved with more hearty options. Spacious, warm,traditional atmosphere with ample parking. A great local pub that should earn the 5th star with improvements in the menu and service

Food is a bit hit and miss. At the last visit, they gladly provided a new plate of sweet potato fries because those with the wrap were burnt but the new portion was also burnt. Likely from the same batch. See photo.
