Japanese Canteen in Tower Hamlets

Nice Katsu Curry. My friend had korean fried chicken which she loved! The difference I found was the chicken breast pieces are cut and fried individually which is nice and crispy when you have it hot. I felt the quantity of curry was a bit less for dine in, not aware of takeaway quantity. Price is almost equivalent to other restaurants.

We came here for dinner after a disappointing experience a Sager +Wilde (where I would have struggled to find something to eat). I was relieved to find that it wasn't too busy or too noisy. Plenty of food choice, hot Saki was nice & warming and the Chicken Katsu was lovely. Highly recommended

Had a really good time here this Saturday. The staff are doing a great job making you feel welcome. It was quite busy here but we didn't have to wait too long for our food, it arrived in about 20 minutes. The sushi rolls and dumplings are awesome and so was bibimbab with seafood. Try a pint of Asahi beer on tap - it's really good. They also have a selection of craft beer by London Brew. All in all a quality relaxed place with great tasty food and friendly staff.

Korean Fried Chicken rice bowl was amazing! Super spicy and enormous. Also had some crispy squid. I would strongly recommend both dishes

The place provides fairly good quality and not overpriced dishes. We use it frequently and most of the time the service is satisfactory and so is the food. Perhaps it's not out of the ordinary but if you're after affordable and tasty food served in a polite manner I'd say go to the Japanese Canteen and you won't regret it.

Informal, relaxed dining in a contemporary setting. A wide selection of Japanese crowd pleasers ranging from sushi to ramen to katsu curry (which I highly recommend). They also offer a few Korean-inspired dishes with plenty of veggie options across the board.Where this place really shines is value for money. You can easily get a starter, a main and a drink for less than £20 a head, the portion sizes are generous and for those sorts of prices, the quality is actually pretty damn good.

A good local spot and it seems popular with students and professionals alike. Has a great relaxed and casual atmosphere. We had a selection of starters, and a soup and bibimbap as mains, both good portions, well presented and tasty. Left feeling very full. Bill came to £54 for two, including a drink each, and service. Not too bad, but a little higher than expected for a place so casual, and just one small drink each. But overall I loved the place and am pleased to have discovered it, and yes, I will be going back.

I visited this place this evening with the group of friends. As someone who can't have gluten, I was delighted they had some great options for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. And atmosphere was great and relaxing. Service was fast and friendly.

Terrible food the suace was thick like gelatine and salty and the prawn tempura was not crispy will demand my money back from uber eats

Thoroughly beat our expectations of a cheap and cheerful meal. Staff were excellent, and all of the food packed flavour. Teriyaki may have been a touch sweet, but it was all lovely.
