Pies were decent. Visited on a Saturday afternoon, around 3-4 tables for sit ins. Unfortunately no hot drinks were available (not sure why). Reasonable price, about £12.50 for 2 lots of double pie & mash.

I have never eaten pie and mash before, thought I would give it a go, as I was in London with a old friend and my sister, it was foul, the potato was lumpy , pie was burnt in fact the whole meal was cold even the liquor, and the two women behind the counter were miserable old cows. If you want the best try Cookes or Manzies.

If I could give zero stars I would... Hopefully I have... Frequented Kelly's Roman Road for many years.. Miss it so thought we'd try Kelly's at Bethnal Green. The place looked pretty traditional.. That's where it ended. Had the most disappointing meal. The mash was waxy.. Lumpy and flavourless.. The pie was overcooked.. The contents were greasy and bland... The liquor was luminous green with two flecks of parsley. On to the vinegar.. I am used to non brew condiment with a chilli.. The vinegar they used turned the mash black!!!.. Looked like black ink!!... The only positives were the salt and pepper... To make matters worse my husband and I have been bathroom bound!!!!!... One of the worse meals we have ever had!!!!

Worst pie and mash I've ever had in 30 years. Really flavourless, greasy, weird vinegar, they used food colouring in the liquor and no parsley. Nothing traditional about it at all, won't be back. I'd reccomend Robin's in wanstead or Danny's cafe in Barkingside instead.

My partner loves pie & mash and was really looking forward to it. Pie bland and no flavour mash was nice shame about the green water which was supposed to be liqueur. Staff not too bad but it was closing time. He states will never return. Very disappointed

What a miserable person serving. Customer service does not exist here. They obviously hate their job. The pies were terrible and burnt and hard. I threw them away. Avoid!!! See picture..

Reasonable, was reasonable value although pies seamed very fatty, liquor needs more parsley. Although not the cheeriest of souls I watched as they helped a rather old lady, they made sure she was comfortable, took her food and drink to her and bent over backwards in ensuring she had everything she needed. Some minor tweaks and this place could be a real gem.

OK pies and the place is nowhere near as friendly as its illustrious namesake on Roman Road. And lest I forget, eels are not served here.

Went in there yesterday, pie and mash good, liqueur watery, very authentic place.Prices reasonable. No jellied eels or anything else on the menu. The two women in there were pretty unfriendly, also i asked for a knife and was told abruptly no Knives ? Its pretty small and grubby in there too.It could be so much better, particularly the staff who need to brush up on their politeness.Nice pictures on the wall of famous boxers, and the area. Would i go there again ?
