Incredible roast, great service in a nice neighborhood. We always enjoy our time there.

Loved our Sunday lunch here. Our server, Kat, was very helpful and attentive and gave a good rundown of the menu before we ordered. All the courses we ordered were delicious - from the pickles snack to the devilled crab soup and duck liver parafait to our cod/mussels/monks beard mains. Topped off by great dessert and coffee. Only small niggle was that the playlist was very short and we heard the same song 3times in our less than 2 hour visit. Overall a great experience and we’ll definitely be back!

We went to the Marksman for a Sunday roast around 5pm. The person at the front informed us that food won’t be served until 6pm but we could have drinks till then. However, when it was time to order we were forced to have a three course meal. This was not made clear to us before. Furthermore, the beef roast at the Marksman, only contains a slice of beef and a Yorkshire pudding. You would have to pay £5 extra for three roast potatoes and £5 extra for a few greens. The roast itself was average in taste, and it feels quite insulting having to pay £10 for the trimmings. To add insult to the injury, they charge a lot for a very small glass of red wine (125ml) which comes out of the bar tap. No red wine should come out of a tap. If you want a good Sunday roast, there are plenty of better places in the area. Especially if you don’t want to be squeezed in tables so small you could hear your neighbours conversation more than your own. Best to avoid this pub!

Went here for a Sunday Roast after rave reviews from Time Out and some top London chef recommendations. All I can say is that these reviews must be from visits years ago and it seems Marksman standard has gone downhill. I sadly only saw the terrible recent TripAdvisor reviews after visiting! The waitress told us the meat would be medium-rare - it was grey and not seasoned. The roast potatoes had clearly been made 10 hours earlier and been kept on a hot plate since - dry.The buttered greens hadn’t even seen any butter, were pale and sitting in a pool of boiled water - an extra £5 for the privilege. The Yorkshire’s lacked any structural integrity and the gravy was like water. Even the desserts were bland and a disappointment. One of the worst roasts I’ve ever had in London after trying many and the price was extortionate. Do yourself a favour and head to 12:51 instead - They know how to do a premium roast for a fair price!

The expectation was high as so many recommended this place but unfortunately I won’t do the same after a terrible piece of meat (and feeling morally awful for its consumption afterwards) nervy and impossibleto cut. Yorkshire pudding tasted of nothing same for the gravy. All the rest average quality to spend £ 100 for a Sunday roast. But then if your thing is phenomenal places pay a visit to test yourself.

We went for Sunday lunch - the menu is largely limited to 3 courses for £40 on a Sunday. The food was great. Not just your standard pub roast.Unfortunately, we were a walk-in and the only space available was at the bar - not a comfortable place to be sitting! But still, lovely surroundings and good service.

Very nice local pub with a very cosy vibe. The interior decor is that of vintage wooden Victorian pub. A must if you are in the area. The staff is super friendly and nice and thus one extra star for them.Would definitely come back :)

Weeknight dinner for 4 people = £190 for food + £160 for drinks including service charge. We sat upstairs. Service and food were both very good (although probably overpriced for a gastropub). My main issue was with the drinks. My 3 friends all have wine qualifications. They ordered a beer (didn't like it), a martini (less dry than expected), and 2 £60ish bottles of wine (both below expectations). That doesn't seem right. For food we got the signature lamb buns, oysters, curried crab, devilled cockles, pollock & cuttlefish main, wing rib sharing platter, and 3 sides.

The Marksman, it hits the mark, man. This is not your usual Sunday roast, heck it's not your usual pub food. This is fine dining Sunday roast where you're not going to be undoing the top button of your trousers, nevertheless it's still as satisfying and comforting as a big ol' roast at your Nan's.The vibe whichever floor you sit on is great, with friendly and helpful staff ready and waiting. The food itself is fresh and subtle in flavour and although you may think "is there enough?" by the end you're thinking that was just right.I had the beef which was tender with a squash puree smoother than my bald head. My better half had the celeriac tart which was next level (she wasn't even jealous of my Yorkshire pudding, which is unusual).I could go on, but you should just go check it out and be happy with your life choices.

First time at the Marksman. The best crab soup ive ever eaten, and overall great food. But, Felt a bit robbed being charged extra for roast dinner sides, plus it was hard to fit them on the plate as the roast dinner plate was a side plate... The plates also have an arch on it meaning when you try cut anything the plate tips up. Sooo annoying. The plates which the desserts were served would’ve been perfect. The roast was under seasoned and the yorkshire pudding lacked everything.Dont understand the hype for the beef bun? It was cold and lacking in flavour. The brown butter tart incredible.Perfect service. The drinks and wine were perfect, but a real let down were the old pub bathrooms, which are awful for a medium to high end place.
