We went out for a quick curry on Saturday and decided to go here as it was the busiest one. Now I can see why that was. Food was really tasty and authentic at the same time. Staff where very polite too! Will be black soon!

After trying several of Brick Lane’s ‘best’ curry houses. I can confirm Standard Balti House is a step above the rest. They present the dishes differently (and better) than all the carbon-copy restaurants on the street, the service is brilliant, and most importantly - the food tastes incredible!- Poppadoms were warm and fresh (even after arriving near close)- Onion bhaji’s were large and flavourful.- Best Lamb tikka dhansak I’ve had and I eat curry weekly! We attended late on a Tuesday night and were still welcomed and not made to rush our food, therefore we cannot wait to attend again!

@thestandardbricklaneVenueYes my foodies went down to the best Bengali cuisine restaurant in bricklane hands down!. You can tell by the atmosphere and the amount of people inside, there are few restaurants on this road not as busy as this one I promise you. Reason being is good food and good vibes!. The seating arrangement and hospitality is top tier. I felt comfortable, relaxed most of all stuffed🤣.StartersPappadum’sThese were great freshly made can taste in the crunch. These weren’t left out like your usual restaurant for the whole day and go stale. The sauces that accompanied this were amazing. The sweet chilli was the heavy hitter for me 🔥King Prawn ButterflyThis was really nice the breading even the prawn inside fresh and cooked evenly.Prawn PuriYet again starter freshly made from the prawns to the puri which was so fresh I could taste it like how my mum would make at home straight of the pan.Mix GrillSheekh kebabThis was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was the bomb you gotta get this mix grill when you are here!.Chicken LegThis was cooked fully and tasted like original Bengali tandoori flavour.Chicken TikkaThis was cooked to perfection not dry and full of flavour!Lamb TikkaSame as the tikka this was cooked well with lot of flavour and moist just how it should be so it melts in your mouth.Lamb ChopThis again was cooked well full of flavour succulent piece of lamb!.MainsGarlic RiceThis was really good! Fresh pungent garlic mixed it really packed a punch not your average garlic rice 😏.NaanHad the naan too quick to get a pic 😂 but boy i must tell you not your average “naan”😌.Lamb SaagThis was really nice rich in masala really authentic Bengali taste. The garnish fried ginger shoots added a wonderful taste to it. This curry was very in depth in taste not ur average high road lamb saag.Sweet Chilli ChickenI got bbq vibes of this but with the naan this sauce is a must have 10/10 blew me away. That and the naan alone is award winning.Prawn CurryThis was really fresh and full of flavour a must try!.#londonfood

The worst Indian meal I’ve ever experienced. We were naively enticed into this restaurant for a £20 pp meal on Saturday night, having seen the good reviews & busy tables we thought ‘why not?!’.It’s now clear that the busy tables are all from dragging people off the street. To start, our popadoms arrived and were dry, brittle and just completely awful. I couldn’t eat my 2. I then hoped the onion bhajis would be better, as this would indicate the rest of the meal… the bhajis were no better and were also very dry and tasted as though they’d been cooked hours before and just reheated (I wouldn’t be surprised if they were). To finish off, the curry was also really bad (although probably the least bad part of the entire meal - which is saying something). My chicken tikka dansak was unusually extremely spicy and the chicken was chewy and tough at times.I complained twice and managed to get £4 off our £60+ bill… pretty poor in my opinion. If I could get all my money back I would, but the waiters seemed pushy and aggressive from the moment we’d sat down - we were no longer of interest as we were no longer ‘potential’ customers, but actually sat down and waiting for service.Avoid this place like the plague.

We had a delightful meal here! Very friendly staff, they gave us a great discount, lovely ambiance and delicious food. It wasn't exactly like the food in India but that's understandable. Defo recco end coming here!

Great curry house! The frontman gave us a fantastic deal with rival an opposing restaurant. Food and service was good and the restroom was clean.

Great night with special friends which have made this restaurant an annual event. Literally adjacent to the Hub hotel.

Delicious food, excellent service. Ordered a takeaway (sag panir was rich and creamy, the crab main dish was a massive portion and really tasty (though not spicy) -would definitely recommend if you like crab). Staff were very courteous and even offered to have my bike indoors while I waited which was unexpected yet kind (it was early and so quiet enough-I'd not expect that to be a regular offer but it was kind) . Would definitely recommend.

Visited the restaurant based on reviews, however when you arrive and it's empty you do wonder on the reviews you have read.BUT the review for 4-5 are spot on.Firstly, the cleanliness is extremely good in the restaurant.More importantly, the food was delicious. Tasty, moist without excessive oils or fat , the food was great. Portions sizes were perfect (and I like my food so that was important to me).Service was good, friendly without being overly pushy on drinks, etc., as other restaurants in the area can be.Finally the price - you get what you pay for normally but at less than £30 per head with drinks (this was a birthday celebration), this was a bargain. Will definitely be coming back!
