I love the English Restaurant. It’s one of my all time favourite spots in London. Beautiful roast on Sundays! We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. It was fully booked and a special mention should go here to the waitress Lily who seated us at the restaurant bar and served us delicious coffees with her colleague. After a table was free Lily immediately seated us. The food (vegetarian but roast), the service and overall experience was second to none. Absolutely outstanding! We will come back as soon as possible.

I’d English breakfast last weekend, I really enjoyed it

Delicious and traditional restaurant super close to Spitalfields and Liverpool Street. Staff here are super friendly, and made me an awesome cappuccino! Definitely recommend dropping in!

Six of us went and ordered starters and mains. The waitress was very friendly but a soon as we got there she told us several things were not available from the menu. After ordering, the starters took ages! As an apology the waitress brought us complimentary bread and olives. Even though they knew our starters had taken ages, this didn't speed up our mains. We were waiting what felt like forever. Waiting didn't mean our food was good either. Mine and my friend's rarebit was burned and my friend's steak was burned also. The food was decidedly average. The wine was poor (we were with French friends who knew their wine). Maybe it was a bad night...

Just went in the restaurant this morning to have a full English breakfast. The food is very low quality we could see the waitresses going to Sainsbury’s to buy low quality products. Special award to the bacon which had more fat than meat … Strongly not recommend this place !

Great English breakfast. I highly recommend it!

Our party of 4 walked in and got a seat. The food was five stars although there is a limited choice. There was not anything on the dessert menu to our taste. There was a pianist playing throughout and that wasn't distracting. The staff were great but meal waiting times were slightly longer than we should hope. I will definitely go there again if in the area as the atmosphere and food were tops.

Worst restaurant I have ever been to. Service very poor, ordered 3 roasts and a fish and chips. We have waited 30 min for sliced beef roast and even then the cod wasn’t cooked. Totally raw and slimy and chips burnt. We asked for some extra gravy as there wasn’t much with the roasts. They charged £3 per portion for an extra portion of gravy, so we spent almost £10 on gravy which should have been free. MADNESS!They offered a pudding for free but we just wanted to get out of there. They didn’t give any discount at all for the terrible experience. Ridiculous!Following the reply from the restaurant owner saying that I am liar, I am adding a picture of the receipt.

Wonderfully authentic, family run restaurant with such welcoming cosy atmosphere, richness of the interior matches the food. All locally sourced and incredibly full of flavour. An homage to great food!

I love it her. This place has so much history and it is a place to go. The sourdough sandwich is just so perfect. I love it so much. It tastes sublime. This place is totally recommended for you guys to try at east end and would come back again to try its other menu.
