Have to give this place a 5 star . Lunchtime special fish n chips for under a fiver ! Quality and freshness . Everything is fried fresh . Owner operated and always serves you with a smile . Old skool fish and chip shop.

Old school proper fish & chip shop. Where else could you get a piece of cod, decent portion of delicious hot chips and a can of pop for £5! In the more gentrified places you are lucky to get anything passing as lunch for a fiver. I look forward to my next trip here for a naughty hungover lunch or dinner.

The woman with dark hair was very loud and was swearing while I waited for my order with 2 young children. She was discussing covid-19 with the other lady, which is fine, whatever. But the swearing in front of customers, especially children, and being crazy loud, was out of order. Food is good, prices reasonable . Shame about the staff.

I'd love this to be proper fish and chips....but unfortunately the owners never quite managed to crack it. The fish is pulpy and tasteless with greasy, congealed, batter. The chips (also greasy) are never properly crisped or cooked through. On the handful of occasions that I have bought food from here, by the time I get it back home it has turned into a gloopy, congealed mess. They sell all manner of odd looking sausages and #lip&ahole pies, yet they can’t seem to get their core product right!No one has spent any money on the interior since the mid 80’s, so the shop feels grubby, drab and un-hyenic…..that autographed picture of Jonathan Ross FFS 🤬Up until recently, you would have got away with the low standards and poor quality food, but given the changes that are afoot in Wood St., the days for this place are definitely numbered.

The best fish and chips for miles I think. Freshly made on the premises and plenty of it. While waiting I was given a small sample of chips; yum! The brothers are friendly and polite, and my wait was entertaining. The restrictions on parking is very annoying, but there are car parks across the road.

We got fish n chips costing £4.50 small Portion. Nice but batter was off the fish and very greasy. Good price. Fills the gap if hungry

I've had their food plenty of times, and unfortunately this order fell short. It was within uber Eats and sadly their platform doesn't let you leave a standard review which may help other customers. The only issue was that I received a cod, sold as a large cod which was barely bigger than a large battered sausage. They know, I know that's not a large cod. They should tell the customer we don't have large cod, or that the size is smaller and lower the price. I think its just poor value to the customer if they order something which is advertised as large and when received is clearly small. I know fish size varies but its clear they didn't want to contact me or anyone and admit that what they sold wasn't up to scratch. Please improve your practices, everyone clearly likes you and you don't need to do this.
