We visit Royal Oak for a Sunday Roast yesterday.Four of our party opted for the Roast Lamb, two for the "Trio Roast and one Chicken Roast. We all enjoyed our meals tremendously. Everything was was adequately hot with decent portion size. The service from our waitress Toni was outstanding. She was very cheery, helpful and personable. My wife and I will certainly be visiting the Royal Oak again very soon. I highly recommend this restaurant ā—

Came here as part of an end of school celebration with large party. Treated abhorrently by staff because, admittedly, 1% of people bought own alcohol which is understandably against the rules but the way it was dealt with was very bad, being told they’ll ā€˜chuck us out and ban us for life’ which ruined atmosphere of what is supposed to be a celebration. Even before this incident staff very dismissive and rude only because we are students. The 1% left by own accord I believe and rest of party followed rules and were not being obnoxious at all, there was no one else in the outdoors area where we were situated so not disturbing anyone else at all. I understand it may be a bit daunting lots of school kids coming in but we had ID to prove over 18 and we were in no way intimidating and not breaking any rules by us being there yet met with poor attitude. Moved on quickly to another pub which had no problem with us being there.

I went in tonight with two friends who separately went to the bar and commented on how rude the bar manager was. She seemed to go out of her way to be deliberately mean and when an order was wrong and we asked for a refund, she rolled her eyes, went into the till and then when there was no change, went into the tip pot to refund us… I don’t know if she will replace that money?!The other, younger member of staff apologised for her behaviour as she had slammed down the money and refused eye contact, even when my friend deliberately thanked her. It was a really odd and pretty mortifying experience and it really changed how I perceive my local pub. I’ve always previously had great service but this member of staff really lets the team down. Really disappointing.

One of my favourite spots. Always such a great atmosphere, they do lovely cocktails and the outdoor area is just lovely and cosy to sit in. Really something for everyone here! Also, the bar staff are always very friendly. Definitely recommend.

My friends and I came in for a drink and food after school to celebrate the end of year and the way the staff treated us was absolutely disgusting. We all had our ID on us, but we’re treated horribly because, as the staff told us, ā€œwe look youngā€, which we do because we’ve just turned 18 but legally we’re allowed to drink and be served. The tall blonde lady, the manager I think, also muttered to her colleague ā€œJesus Christā€ as if she didn’t want us there although we were paying customers and not being loud or obnoxious in any way whatsoever. We were treated so unkindly just because we’re 18 which doesn’t make us any less worthy of good service than any other customer. The food was also overpriced and nothing special. The only good thing was there’s a nice garden area but my experience was completely ruined by the extremely rude attitude from the staff members.

Lovely local pub with selection of beer and good food. Pub is split into two with one part suited for more formal or family lunch/dinner. They also have quite large outdoor area which is partially covered as well.

Really enjoyed our experience here ... we dropped in on the off chance so weren't surprised that the main dining room was fully booked. We sat in the bar area, which was quite lively, lots going on, tvs showing the rugby and dogs šŸ• walking through and of course kids running about but we loved it.Food was good 2 of us had the roast which was excellent and 1 had a burger ... Nice to be able to get more than a roast on a SundayLovely building, lots of history, very enjoyable x

We enjoyed the Sunday Roast dinner here when we were in England visiting our son. The is an excellent choice of different roasts including lamb which is my favourite and my daughter in law had roasted chicken.Generous portions and the Yorkshire was enjoyed by the family.

Popped in on a recommendation. Great service, warm and friendly staff. Family oriented place. Great outdoors space too (blankets on the chairs!) Didn't eat there however the family next to me were eating a lovely roast. Would come back next time for a Sunday roast.
