Pig & Whistle in Wandsworth

Great food and atmosphere, showed the sports. Ran out of all roasts by 4pm on Sunday, beware ! Will have to go earlier next time!

Lovely pub, warm atmosphere BUT cannot get over the fact that they charged me £6.60 for a single shot of vodka plus soda water and £6.80 for a pint of beer. Overall we paid £15 for these two drinks and a small bag of crisps. I will repeat £6.60 for a single shot of vodka. I thought it was too high a price considering a 750ml Absolut costs less than £15 at the store. Thanks

Good Sunday roast - friendly staff. Drinks were a tad pricey but food was good value for money.

The food was ok, hence the 3 stars. I would go there again for drinks as it's a nice pub and it has a cute outdoor area at the back but not really for the food.

Seems a decent pub. Very modern interior, with tables aplenty. I bought a pint of Wandle for £4.20 a pint. No Youngs available.The history of the pub is nowhere to be seen, which is a shame. It had been built in 1900 as a pub, but local churchgoers objected to it opening as a pub, and so remained a shop until almost 75 years later. It was named 'Pig and Whistle' by the brewery and opened in November 1974, after finally being able to get a licence. At the opening party a pig called 'Pat the porker' was brought along on a Youngs horse-drawn dray, and chairman John Young played a whistle! The original pub sign was a drawing of a pig on its hind legs playing a whistle. The current pub sign, thankfully not replaced by the daft 'initials' as done on other Youngs establishments, has a pig looking at a farmer who has the whistle.

This is a great little pub. Very quaint. Good mix of outdoor and indoor seating. We come here regularly. The roasts are very good.

Amazing food. Highly recommend T bone Tuesday. And the house lager Slybeast is proper good!

Quite honestly the worst fish&chips I had in London. Not that it was unpalatable, it was just watery and not tasty. I’d be happier with a Sainsbury’s Café one and those only cost about a fiver.

Wonderful Sunday lunch! No fish and chips on Sundays but they have a variety of selections! Baby friendly, there were several babies with their family.

This is a good pub. In particular they have a cabinet full of hot sauce which is excellent. They also seem to stay open forever which is also good. Plenty of seating. The food is good, no complaints. The have plenty of events/evenings going on.Loo’s are cleanAlso as a parent, it’s nice to see this is a pub for grownups. With my kids I go elsewhere, when it’s with a mate I go here.Also they serve black samuca, 1*. But only for the person who buys it.
