Sugar Cane in Wandsworth

One of my favourite locals! The food is always well seasoned, cocktails are delicious, the portions are very generous! However my personal favourite are the desserts? It’s not often that many restaurants will out as much time and effort into baking freshly made cakes, as they do the rest of the menu. I really appreciate it

Our first visit to Sugarcane yesterday following the recent Guardian review. What a fabulous place. We booked for the 4.00 sitting (there seem to be 3 sittings at 4.00, 7.00 or 9.00). It was full and buzzing with a really delightful atmosphere. Service was friendly and caring (you need to forgive any little glitches, relax and be prepared to take your time - this is a special place). The food was just delicious. We had the jerk chicken, salad, jerk rice, coleslaw and roti with gravy. Gorgeous. Can't wait to come again. If you're local, you're lucky. Well worth travelling to.

Overall extremely enjoyable, skilled cooking and friendly atmosphere. Delicious jerk chicken - we have travelled from the other side of London to visit you today after the review from Mr Rayner, and your praise is well deserved. A bit disappointed that service was slow but I write from an empathetic place of many years working in the industry myself. May you have long and continued success in your business 🙏

We are returning customers, this is one of our favourite food spots! The food is so delicious, I'd happily live off the bread and butter pudding. Great service as always. We'll be back soon 👌

We have visited sugarcane twice in the past week, and it has been excellent on both occasions. The passion and love for this restaurant really shines through in its delicious food, perfect setting and wonderful staff. Wholeheartedly recommend. I would eat the bread and butter pudding for every meal if I could.

So sad to have to leave a negative review for this place, but after 3 poor experiences here, we won't be coming again. Originally ate here a year ago and the food and whole experience was amazing. Sadly, it would seem the place has gone massively downhill from a service point of view, which is so disappointing given the amazing food on offer. On our first more recent visit, the place was heaving and there was only one waitress serving, which made trying to order a second round of drinks and desserts impossible, despite asking. We put this down to a busy night and staffing issues, so left without complaint and booked to come again via the online booking system a month or so later. On the second visit, we arrived to find the restaurant was in fact closed due to a covid outbreak amongst staff, however, no-one had contacted us to make us aware of this to cancel our booking, so we'd travelled needlessly. We tried a third time this evening and called ahead to check the restaurant was open and to book, all fine. It was early evening and the restaurant was empty, yet there was no waiting staff in sight and only a chef. After waiting an age to be served or even given a menu, we had to request this ourselves and eventually our order was taken. Our drinks never arrived and after asking, we were told neither of the cocktails we had ordered were available and that actually only wines and beers were available, despite this not being mentioned when our drinks order was taken! Sadly, after waiting a long time without any food or drink or any explanation for the poor service yet again, we made the decision to leave. Real shame as the food is undeniably great, but the service and staffing levels is seriously lacking and really lets the place down.

I had a great time on my first visit to the restaurant.The staff is amazing, he makes you feel very comfortable and provide this very welcome feeling.Also, he was very keen on explaining the menu and replying to our questions, and a massive extra for them to manage to find an alternative to our friends that had some food intolerances.The food was incredibly delicious - one note for the non-spicy-lovers the food has a bit extra spicy which for me it was amazing to remember flavours that I like very much.Definitely worth a visit to take the Carribbean flavours.

Went to this place during happy hour which is 4-7pm. The cocktails range from 2 for £6ish to 2 for £10 which I think is a very good price and they tasted amazing. I also tried 1/4 Jerk chicken, jerk gravy, jerk rice and coleslaw. Everything I ate tasted amazing, and the jerk rice would be enjoyed for anyone who likes spice. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and the decor of the restaurant was really cute. I would definitely recommend it to my friends/family and can’t wait to go back again!

super friendly staff, thoughtful owner, great music and incredible food. my second visit and eager to return soon! as a vegan it's nice to be able to have multiple options and need to come back to try the desserts! 5/5
