Cavens Arms in Dumfries & Galloway

Eventually made the time to try this place out. A late lunch with my daughter so managed to walk in without a booking. An extensive menu, maybe too extensive. But opted for a favorite, fish n chips, haddock I think. Crispy coating, lovely fish. My daughter opted for burger with haggis n bacon. She loved it. Its a pub with slightly overpriced food, but the quality was great. The decor of the place was traditional, if a bit tired. But worth a visit.

First I had been in Dumfries in a long time, always went past this place. The meal was fantastic and you are well fed! The staff are very accommodating to your every need. You need to book in advance for a table, but if they you cannot get anywhere you can sit at the bar, I asked to get moved and it wasn't a problem.

Very busy food was very nice but my wife found a piece of plastic in her starter, staff very apologetic. No discount on bill we had to ask got a free cup coffee! £3 lots other places would have giver her the starter fo free even spoons have better refund policy. Not sure I will be rushing back.

Have been here twice now on visits to Scotland. Veryfriendly and helpful staff.Outside eating area for those with dogs. Great foodHad 10oz sirloin steak cooked to perfection with all the trimmings. Meal for two including drinks and two courses £55. Great value for good food.

Lovely dining place. Great outside area with nice ambiance and tellies. Kind staff, huge portions, I recommend the breaded brie and the wraps !

This is always a must visit when I'm in Dumfries visiting family. Food and service is always amazing. Atmosphere, menus and prices are great as well. They have the best Mac and Cheese anywhere in the UK. I see why Cavens wins pub of the year every year in Dumfries and Galloway.Highly recommended!

We were told about this place a few years ago but never got around to trying it until recently & are now wondering why it took us so long to check this fabulous place out !From the staff to the amazing quality of the food we were not disappointed and will definitely be coming back when we visit the area again .Do yourselves a favour and eat at this place you will love it as we did .See you all again soon at Cavens Arms XxX

Great pub. Arrived without a booking but was lucky enough to get a table. Staff are great and keep an eye on your glass for another drink. Food is excellent. I ordered T-bone steak and it was cooked to perfection. You will need to be hungry, I can assure you.

Yet another amazing meal. Every single surface in this place is spotlessly clean. Food was outstanding, portions are massive. Best place to eat out in Dumfries. And they don't allow anyone under 14 which makes the whole experience even better - no screaming kids!
