We were staying at the New England Bay caravan site. Booked an early evening meal here at the Clashwhannon after a day out walking. We were given a very friendly welcome. The food was great (including a huge portion of battered cod). All food was freshly cooked and the bill, including drinks for two was very reasonable. They're currently doing takeaway meals as well. (Available from 5pm)Bonus was the last bus of the day at 6.45pm from Drummore dropped us off back at the caravan site entrance. Be aware that not all buses to Stranraer travel this way. Absolutely amazing. Second time here and even better than before. So quiet. Delicious fish & chips. Cabin only with the sea view, you won't regret.Bartosz

Fantastic little bar, with exceptional food. My husband opted for the famous steak pie. Wow! Over 1lb of steak in each slab, served with chips veg, and a pot of gravy. His words, “best steak pie ever”. I had chicken enchiladas with a portion of onion rings. Again, lovely, especially the onion rings.

Usually this place is amazing With super friendly staff and a great atmosphere. But unfortunately our last visit was not like that. The lady who served us (not the owner) was so miserable. Didn't even acknowledge us when waiting at the bar for 10 mins waiting to see if there was a free table. When she finally came over she was very grumpy and not at all accomodating. If it wasn't for the fact that the young girl who brought us our food was so pleasant and helpful and great with my daughter's I would have only given a 1 star rating.

Staying on holiday and as this pub had been recommended , we decided to come for Sunday dinner. It was very nice and can highly recommend it. The homemade rhubarb crumble was scrumptious! A lovely welcome too from the lady behind the bar and serving our meal. Think we may just have to go again midweek! Full marks for Clashwhannon pub! Mandy and Gary Shaw

Disappointing. Had first round of drinks. Considering the menu. Then a dog was allowed to run around inside the pub off a lead up to other people’s tables. Decided to finish up and leave quickly as I prefer not to have loose dogs running around especially if eating. Landlady managed to lose half her clientele and a second round never purchased.

Friendly staff. Meal was fine. Handy being able to sit outside with the dogs. Unfortunately they let themselves down with the 2 takeaway fish and chips 2 days later. Batter soft and gooey and along with the fish, dripping in fat.
