Came across Mr Pooks kitchen by chance for lunch whilst visiting castle Douglas.Great open kitchen in a converted old bank building. The daily specials where all locally sourced dishes and really well priced for the quality. You could enjoy smaller lunch time portions like squid, clams or 6oz local steak. - They also make a selection of virgin cocktails in addition to their extensive wine and cocktails menu.

We selected Mr Pook’s Kitchen to celebrate our small family wedding. The lunch was superb and included amuse bouche, pre-dessert , beautiful cod, lamb and 30 day aged ribeye, to name but a few.. Mr Pook and the team did us proud with friendly and efficient service and planning. Our guests were extremely impressed and it turned out to be the highlight of the day. They are still raving about it! We highly recommend Mr Pook’s Kitchen and will certainly return.

We've dined at Mr Pook's thrice and were absolutely blown away each time. It's a rare gem of a restaurant that offers genuinely down to earth cuisine built around locally sourced produce, combined with a gastronomic flourish that's sure to delight the senses. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu - everything we've ever had was amazing despite everyone having very different tastes. We love that the vibe is polished yet casual, with great portion sizes and fantastic, friendly service from Ed and the team. The open kitchen is also a lovely touch and it's always a treat watching the chefs at work.Easily one of our top choices for a nice evening out.

It was lovely! Every course tasted amazing! Had starters, mains and dessert, tasted better than I had imagine, will definitely come back when we come back to Galloway

Amazing food at Mr Pook's Kitchen! All our dishes were absolutely amazing! I do have to say I tasted my friends scallops entre and I was a bit jealous but my crab tortellini were also good. The ox cheek main that I had was a hit and a surprisingly large amount of food. The meat was exquisitely cooked, you didn't even need a knife. If you're looking for an alcoholic drink, the gin tonic combinations they have are your best choice, especially the bramble and honey combination!

Had dinner here with my partner last night and can honestly say it was one if the nicest meals I've ever had in a restaurant. The starter, main and dessert were all on par with each other and so beautifully presented. We both had the Ox cheek raviolo, the lamb, and then I finished with the chocolate and raspberry dessert. The service was also great. Thank you so much for a beautiful meal, this is the highlight of our holiday so far!

The food here is truly amazing really can't complain about the food the only down side was it seems the kids menu was bit of an after thought as there isn't much choice and don't know many children that would pick soup for a starter, but would recommend to anyone who hasn't been.
