Restaurant At House O'Hill Hotel in Dumfries & Galloway

We had a fabulous meal here on Saturday. The staff were friendly and efficient and gave some excellent recommendations about the menu (the Thai curry was delicious). They were very accommodating about the children and the dog, we enjoyed the whole experience. Everyone enjoyed their meal, would definitely recommend. Nice selection of whisky too I'm told!

The place is pleasant and its location is beautiful being very close to Loch Trool. Most of the staff were friendly and the food was very good. However the food is rather expensive and I have had cheaper food of the same or better quality elsewhere. The drinks on the other hand, were terrible. All 3 of my party agreed they tasted watered down which, given the apparently great selection of draught on offer, this was a disappointment

Great food and fantastic welcome and service. Catered for various dietary requirements with consideration - even making up a special dessert. Only downside we found was the lack of any baby changing facilities.

Amazing meal at this restaurant. Staff were lovely and very helpful - food was superb, couldn't fault it. Highly recommend the rump steak, the burger and the sticky toffee pudding ! Wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Best meal I've had in a very long time when we visited September 2021.The food (I had black pudding and haggis empanadas and a flat iron steak) was really good. I've been dreaming about the empanadas and the black olives they came with!Staff were absolutely great. Genuinely some of the best and friendliest service I've experienced in a very long time.

Lovely hotel with exceptionally friendly staff, good dining and a great breakfast. Room on the small side but spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate. If a one star review is submitted around this date please disregard it as it will have come from an obnoxious diner who refused to pay part of his bill and harangued staff unmercifully.

Can’t say enough nice things about Helen and her team. Was lucky enough to eat there on ‘Tapas Night’ and the food was sensational (blaggis empanadas!), the staff extremely helpful and friendly and we had a nut allergy in our party and they couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend!

We would definitely go back again! All staff members were absolutely lovely and obviously happy in their work and the food was amazing. The owner/head chef came out and spoke to us about the multiple food intolerances we all have and was able to cater really well for all of us. A real foodies heaven!

I thought this place was brilliant, phone and book a table, they take a £10 per person deposit which gets refunded when you pay your bill.I had the Steak Burger and Hoose Mess, the Steak Burger was big and juicy and Hoose Mess is like Eton Mess but better. The wife had Short Rib and chocolate mousse, she is gluten intolerant and the staff made sure her meal was spot on!Staff were very busy but still made time to chat with everyone and stuck to all Covid19 guidelines, easy 5 stars!

What a gem! We had dinner hear recently, and was one of the best meals we've had out in ages. The Thai dish we had reminded us of when we lived there, spectacular flavours, and all the other dishes were interesting and full of love. Service was very attentive, despite being busy with reduced staff due to the current pandemic, and they fulfilled all the necessary regs for this. Fab atmosphere and we will definitely be back, especially as we've found out they do changing menus!
