The Birchtree Hotel Restaurant in Dumfries & Galloway

Stayed for one night with our dog & had a great time excellent food & comfortable room would highly recommend staff excellent.

I don't really understand how this hotel can have such good reviews.The carpet on the stairs and in the corridor is disgusting.The room is small and has a shower less than 1m away from the bed.We did an early check-in and the toilet was dirty, it had pee stains all over, I had to ask for a disinfectant spray and clean it myself. After that, the level of cleaning in the room can be questionable.The best, is the breakfast. The chef does a good job.The only thing that I would point out is to restock the breakfast station more often, as sometimes you could find the orange juice empty, no bread or no butter.

A pleasant stay whilst attending a family wedding, the room was large and very well appointed. Food was excellent too. Some of the public areas could do with a little TLC but on the whole a comfortable stay. The hotel does not have any car park, however there is free parking in adjacent roads or a public car park a short walk away.

Staff are brilliant!Rooms can get hot so just remember heating or windows 👍

I went in for lunch in the bar area with my family and dog. The service was brilliant (prompt, friendly and welcoming) and everyone's food was delicious. The TV looked huge so I would love to come back in when the football is on

1st day there early evening drugs raid ,2 police questioning members of staff, one of them goes into the toilet, returning with the paper he’d wiped the top of the wc with!People off their nuts in the next room shouting swearing falling over until 3am !I spoke with the person who booked us in and he said he’d sort it.But 2nd night exactly the same horrendous!Spoke to Marcus the manager on the Sunday as leaving, as he couldn’t really do anything, I asked him to get the owner to call me and left my phone number,To give him a chance to put things right. Surprise surprise no call !Never again.

Very nice place. Food was really good and a decent price. Nice atmosphere and decor. Place seams very clean. Staff were friendly, Jay our server/ bar man couldn't of been more helpful . Outside beer garden was nice. A nice fire going in the main part by the bar kept the place warm but not to hot. Books and colouring pencils would of been really good for the kids.

Stayed here during Christmas 2021. Lovely clean rooms and helpful staff and the breakfast was also very tasty.Wi-Fi didn't work at all during my stay but this is but a minor concern as there is strong 4 g in the area.Covid compliant. No lift if that matters to you as a someone considering staying here but if you're not scared of stairs then this is absolutely fine and worth it
