The Cafe Royal in Dumfries & Galloway

Even for just a take away the service is amazing. Very professional and friendly. I have missed proper Scottish chips and these didn’t disappoint. Really delicious.I would love to come back and have a sit down meal here.

For a place with so many awards we were disappointed.Fish and chips was mediocre, the squid was pretty good though.The service, apart from one friendly waiter, was rude and abrupt.We actually walked out at one point,only to find there wasn't anywhere else that ws dog friendly close by.I was asked to go away by the woman at the till, because of some fault with the till.The other staff at the till talked to each other for as long as they thought they could get away with until they had to acknowledge the inconvenience of having a customer.Think if the owner knew they'd not be too chuffed!

Best fish and chips I've had in along time lovely staff brought our dog a bowl of water couldn't have been more helpful.

Coffee & Juice first, then before we had finished our first sentence with each other our meal was on the Table. Excellent Service as usual. Every time we are in Annan we always go to the Royal. In Fact that is the only reason we stop in Annan. Super friendly, wouldn't go anywhere else.

Amazing place staff were great food was out of this world

I don't think I've been to a cafe or restaurant that takes more care with COVID precautions than The Cafe Royal. Staff all masked and temperature checked, barriers up, distancing enforced, contactless payments set up. It's certainly a comfort to see.The food is also glorious. Chips lovely and crisp. The finest example of a great Scottish chippy.

I may have had fish and chips this good before, but if so I can't remember where or when, just delicious. Friendly service, spacious and airy dining room.

We came in for something to eat before going to the cinema. I have to say, we have never seen such impressive macaroni cheese and chips before. Huge portions and absolutely delicious. All washed down with a lovely cup of tea.Both being vegetarian, this really hit the spot.It was so good we've been back since and brought visitors with us to enjoy your food too.
