The Galloway in Dumfries & Galloway

Just had the most delicious meal here. Staff were lovely.Sat outside with the dogs where there was plenty of room.Very enjoyable 😊

Everything about this experience could have been better. Booked for 6.45 for 2, was shown to an area off to the side where all other tables were empty, not a great location. Finally managed to get the attention of a waitress to order two mains at 7.15. She said she’d “forgotten about us”. Same waitress came back at 7.45 to ask if we’d had our food, no we hadn’t. Food finally served at 8.00 with no real apology other than they were “busy”. No one checked if our food was ok and was chaos trying to pay at the bar afterwards, taking at least 10 minutes. Staff could not care less about customers, so would not recommend for food.

Been here lots of times and food always ok. This time fabulous. The best brocolli and cheddar soup I have ever tasted and battered fish was glorious thanks guys

Crackin wee place. Called in with 3 friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat. The staff were so friendly and the Mac Cheese was yum.Many thanks

Lovely pub inside.Garlic Mushroom and prawn cocktail starter were good.Homemade chips were niceOther half had the Galloway burger which he said was good.I had the Chicken burger which was swamped in oil so could not eat.I quietly and politely point this out to the older waitress who first told me the Cajun chicken is cooked like that, I pointed out I did not have Cajun chicken.She then grunted at me, rudlley asked if partners meal was ok and buggered off!She could learn alot about customer service from the lovely 16 year old waitress who was absolutely lovely and very attentive.

Staff are excellent. Very friendly and smiley. Our meal was delicious.. thanks chef! Would recommend. A great young team who were very attentive to their customers. Well done guys. Shame I couldn't get to see the rest of the Murray game 😉😉 xx

It was superb food and very friendly staff. My fiance couldn't believe the size of the burger it was huge and of great quality.

Called to book this place on the 02/06/2021. I'm not one for leaving bad reviews but this has got to be one of THE WORST places and services I have ever had!! In my 42 years. The cost for what they called home cooked. Forgot to say it is all frozen food just heated. Please take care if booking this place as I said it's the worst in my 42 years!!!

TLDR; Remote bar and restaurant that's external appearance doesn't do justice. Decent food at a reasonable price.Located off the beaten track beside a static caravan site, don't be put off the drab external appearance of The Galloway. It houses a modern and clean bar and restaurant at prices which won't make your eyes water.Food is a mixed bag, some fresh and some frozen. Though it must be noted that everything tasted great. Drinks are a plenty, though limited to which largers are available or in stock.Ice cream, along with many other desserts, coffees and cakes are available too.All in all a lovely place for a bite to eat with attentive and friendly staff.
