Lovely friendly clean hotel....food excellent.....would highly recommend

I visit here quite alot with my family for food. Lovely place. Food is lovely and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Stopped in for lunch, steak burger the best I've had, cooked to perfection and really tasty. chips were fantastic too, a rarity! Partner had the scampi, perfectly cooked and delicious. If I could give 6 stars I would. Service was welcoming and very friendly. Highly recommend.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant however our dinner was spoiled by the attitude of the young male greeter/waiter who asked for proof of face mask exemption. Working in hospitality, he should be aware that there is no official requirement to provide personal medical information to strangers as proof of inability to wear a mask. He handled the situation badly and was rude and dismissive. The rest of the staff were excellent.

Pleasant friendly atmosphere for a family dinner on our weekend break and were able to take our wee dog also. Very accommodating with great customer service.

What a beautiful pub, the building itself is over two hundred years old and would have been a coaching inn originally, there is history hidden all around the inside and it has an wonderful cozy atmosphere full of history and original features with an updated modern finish.The staff were fantastic and friendly and the menu offers a good choice at great prices, the meals are on the larger side and are made fresh using local produce, Which all tasted amazing.I would highly recommend trying the kings arms hotel if you are in the area.Looking forward to eating here again when we next visit castle douglas.

Yet again brilliant meal especially the homemade desserts. Staff are really friendly and the owners make you feel so welcome. Will be my go to place when in castle Douglas.

We had an excellent night's stay the owners were wonderful in having our rooms available early so we could change for a wedding. A very enjoyable breakfast as well. Will definitely be back x

Positives first. Well located and very friendly and helpful staff. Secure parking, pleasant bar and restaurant where I enjoyed a really tasty evening meal. My room (number 7) was very clean with TV, hairdryer and modern en suite.However, I did feel that there was too much furniture in the room as it's not very big. The large dressing table in front of the window meant I couldn't reach the curtains to close them and only just managed to open the window. Breakfast was a bit disappointing after the lovely meal the night before.
