The Railway Inn in Dumfries & Galloway

had better cheaper should be described as bed and breakfast as no evening meal breakfast we were there for 3days first day the breakfast was dried up sausages were dry and hard to eat second day went continental the menu for continental looked good but half of what was advertised they did not have the morning we were leaving we went down earlier to be told that they did not have our name down then they did not serve a a cooked breakfast until later the waitress was rude so we left without breakfast went to pay and manager was on duty spoke to her about the issues at the hotel on evening meals said lack of staff and renovation none of this when we booked tired hotel lack of staff when were there 3days no room cleaning or bins empty had to change room as the first one was cold to old windows open top and bottom and a single glass sheet between room and outside never saw any staff clean and the rubbish was in the lift the all the time we were there will not return

Had a half hour to wait for my train in Dumfries. It's a minute walk from the platform. Nice decor, nice staff, quick WiFi and continental lager. Cheers

Bad attitude by management. Dirty rooms. Poor food. Cold. Lacking warmth in welcoming customers over Christmas,needs refurbishment urgently. Sofas torn and dirty chairs abound. Light bulbs missing throughout the hotel. Rooms not cleaned properly.breakfast plated up and plonked in front of you without asking about choice. Refused a boiled egg.Would or recommend it to anyone at all. Awful

Room gd, breakfast was abit rushed and cold, sat down with my cereal and waitress took my breakfast order and within 5 mins was on table, coffee was luke warm

Location is perfect when travelling by train. Staff are very friendly. Our room was very nice, very spacious, clean and lovely en suite. A lot of the original fixtures are still in place. Would definitely stay there again.

Superior room was big and modern. Cooked breakfast great but, dining at night was a big let down....dinner was limited as some items not available. Gammon Steak thin as bacon. Mac Cheese was dry and not in a sauce.

Only popped in for pre-train coffee. Place was clean, friendly service, fair price and coffee was OK as well. Decor was old and is in need of a update.

What a shame - interesting old building but everything worn out - carpets, furniture,decor. The website images must be from ten or more years ago. Only redeeming features were lovely staff and a comfortable bed. Needs refurbishment.

Had a pleasant 3 night stay. Room quite spacious, Staff go out of their way to help you, thank you very much for the ice❄️🙂Hotel interior is quite tired looking needing some TLC.Still a lovely old Victorian Building. With Lift to the 3 floors.Breakfast only atm, no chef for evening meals.Pleasant indoor or outdoor sitting area.

Highly recommend. Great value and peaceful getaway. Lovely spot right by a leafy walk leading you to the river and then into the town centre for beer gardens and places to potter. The people who work here really make it a nice place to stay. Thanks so much especially to James. So genuinely friendly and helpful 🙂 and a bit like Mr Ben seemed to have many a varied hat/task to perform!😃
